yep, money decision for a city strapped for cash. Hey, as long as no one gets shot that night, the added revenue can be used around town as I am sure everyone is aware.

personally, they would have to pay ME to see Tyson fight again. Even when fighting was only 'semi-'fixed years ago, you would never see heavyweight championship fighters step in and bite people and have as many out of the ring assault charges as this guy does.

let's face it, on a pure boxing level, Tyson is 25% of the fighter he was in 1988. His speed is gone, he doesn't protect himself like he used to. He is in essence hanging around looking to land one big punch to justify his existence in each bout.

Pathetic.

Lewis at 35 is not the best heavyweight I have ever seen, but with his size and reach advantage, Tyson is likely to come out of a matchup with Lewis with his brains even more scrambled than they already are

I hope they do fight here.

It's about time a liberal politician comes out and says its about the money instead of the typical spin.

The time frame of the fight is perfect because the Caps will be done, the NBA will be over except for the draft I guess and football would be a month away so they should be able to fill MCI

I agree with you Henry... don't think this will help DC's tourism. I actually think that this makes us look desperate and pretty bone-headed. How is it dozens of other cities and countries don't want Tyson to step foot into their respective places, yet DC has absolutely no problem issuing a license and hosting this "fight." I have a strong suspicion that this so called "fight" will be fouled up by Iron Mike's sadistic behavior.

As much as a lot of you say Tyson is a problem this and a problem that, he is still the top money draw in boxing. Just plain and simple. Name one boxer who can command a phatter purse that Tyson? No one. Plain and simple, money makes the world go 'round. I hear of a lot of people say that they are not going to watch another Tyson fight yet he sets pay-per-view records everytime he boxes.

The All-star game helped show the world that this city is a place to come chill out, have fun, and party just like those other places(LA, Las Vegas, ATL, New Orleans). A Tyson fight would add to that. I am hoping we get the Tyson fight.

Well, the latest news is that Tyson won't be charged with any sex crimes in Las Vegas, so that will probably lend some impetus to the people trying to bring the fight here.

I used to love watching Tyson back when he was destroying people like Marvis Frazier in thirty seconds. There was some primal urge that he could reach in people. He wasn't a boxer or even a fighter, just a ruthless, relentless beatdown machine, boxing's equivalent of the Borg. Ali and Leonard were the guys who let you see the "sweet science" of boxing, but Tyson satisfied the bloodlust.

Bulldog's right though, he isn't worth the trouble to watch in the ring anymore. He hasn't had a decent fight since Razor Ruddock, and his mental facilities seem to be eroding even faster than his fighting ability. Saying he's 25% of his former self may be too generous, if anything. He's devolved into a sideshow freak, still fascinating, but in a pathetic way. He can still generate a huge payday, for a lot of people, but you just know he's going to end his days in jail or living in a refrigerator carton
