Miami scouting Viking running backs for possible trade???

-- Vikings to Hold RBs for Now --

Sun Aug 22, 2004 --from FFMastermind.com

The Star Tribune reports the Minnesota Vikings are not expected to trade any of their running backs in the wake of second-year RB Onterrio Smith's possible four-game suspension for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy. Smith is appealing the NFL's decision. Smith played his regular role Friday night, rushing six times for 21 yards, catching one pass for 21 yards and returning two kickoffs for a 16-yard average.

Miami Dolphins GM Rick Spielman was among the dozen personnel men sitting in the Georgia Dome press box Friday night. Most teams heavily scout preseason games to make evaluations on players who might get cut later this summer. Last month, the Dolphins were said to be interested in the Vikings' stable of running backs -- one of whom conceivably would replace the retired RB Ricky Williams.

No big deal. Being a betting man during the season, this helps my handicapping when there is turmoil. That said, I will be looking to Miami this year to win me some $$$. Hopefully the spreads aren't too high. Plus, my gf's dad is a huge Jets fan, so not that I like the Jets or anything, but they are like my 2nd home team, plus I like scouting them for the free agent market.
