Mickalino
I am an admitted Juicer Freak. And now I am at the point where I am ready to upgrade my equpiment. I am trying to decidebetween the Champion Juicer and the Jack Lalanne Juicer and I'm stuck. They both have excellent qualities along with a couple drawbacks. Are there any other juicer experts out there with insight on the quality of the higher tier juicers like these ? Thanks
Mickalino
So I take it, with all the beer drinkin football fans here, there isnt one single health-conscious juice drinker ?

Well, the logic behind the juicer, as opposed to the smoothie or any "blender drink" is that it separates the pulp from the juice, thereby bypassing the digestion process, so it goes directly into the bloodstream, much like an IV, thereby getting the most from the nutrients. Because this blended pulp and juice is in a liquid form, it does not get chewed in the mouth where the digestive enzymes would normally be released as when whole raw foods are chewed. And so this "puree" goes directly to the stomach without the digestive enzymes and becomes a difficult substance for the body to deal with. Because of this, very few of the nutrients find their way to the cellular level of the body, which is where nutrients must go if we are to receive any benefit from the foods we eat or the juices we drink. There are no digestive enzymes in the saliva that aid in vitamin and mineral absorption. Only carbohydrates are broken down in our saliva. The small intestine is where vitamin absorption begins. Basically, you are getting all the calories from the fructose found in the fruit and vegetables and none of the nutrient rich fiber content. BurgundyBomber
Excellent post D'Pablo. A little bit of knowledge is a dangerous thing. Then of course, there's the underrated method of selecting fruit and biting into it, chewing it and swallowing it as nature intended. But hey, that's what you get for looking for juicer reviews on a football site. panel
what sort of things do you all juice? I assume it isn't just fruit, cause you could buy it cheaper than you make it, do you make zukini/carrot juice, and crap like that?

Yea, I do hard veggies like beets and carrots, so the blender idea doesn't work well for me. And I dont like the taste of them by eating them directly as they suggested, so juicing the veggies along with apples, a natural sweetener, makes it much more appetizing. Mickalino
I think the thing all of you critics are overlooking is vegetables. Sure it's easy to grab a piece of soft and sweet fruit and chew it up or toss it into a blender. But how often do you do either of those things with vegetables, which are significantly more healthy than fruits ? I juice a few pounds of veggies a day. Do you chew that much or grind that much veggies in a blender ? And please don't think of comparing V-8's with juicing. ANything you buy off the shelf or in a can or bottle doesnt even come close to the nutrients from fresh juicing.

Tom [Giants fan]
Palani, I'm going to guess that you are pretty fit? I don't know anyone who juices veggies but I'm guessing that person would be pretty thin. And if so, I should start juicing veggies too.

Actually, you ought to juice something more interesting, like a cheeseburger or a steak. Throw in a little A1 and you're all set.
The Sisko
You guys are sooo wrong:D To answer your question Palani, my ex-bro-in-law used to swear by the Champion juicer. He felt it got every bit of juice imaginable from his veggies/fruit etc. Sorry, but I don't have any more specific info. than that. Good luck!! Mickalino
Thanks, Yusuf for your response. Specific or not, that's all I needed to hear, just a little reinforcement regarding the Champion Juicer, because that's where I was leaning. Tom, I am pretty fit. And I would recommend juicing for losing weight. Many doctors recommend the Juicer Diet for weight loss, and have even found it effective in treating and curing some diseases, even cancer.
