NavyDave
I can't believe the USWomen and Men decided to tank the games for dates with The Dallas Maverick Point Guard and Pam Anderson as well as a 3 month supply of Molson.
bulldog
The Canadians had the deepest team in the Olympics tournament and as the short turnaround time between contests began to take a toll, that depth really made the difference.

I don't think it is any secret the Canadians should have won a gold medal some time between 1956 and 1998.

So, good for them

At the same time, US hockey gained some real respect in these games. Finishing #2 in a tournament featuring the national teams of Sweden, Russia, Czech Republic, Finland, etc... is nothing to look down your nose at.

At the beginning of the games I thought 6 teams had realistic gold medal hopes, and I had the US at #3 with the Swedes, right behind Canada and Russia.

They bettered that mark.

Once again, congratulations to Canada who know own both men's and women's gold medals.

The Olympics might not have started out well for Canada, but it sure ended with a bang, eh? Die Hard
Bulldog - You're an educated hockey many as well A silver medal for the US men's hockey team is quite a mark. There used to be a time when the Americans were an afterthought.

With repeatedly successful performances in World Cup and Olympic play, the US is quickly becoming a legitimate threat at every level. Even the junior men's hockey team has been improving steadily in recent tournament.

American hockey has certainly come a long way. NavyDave
OK to be honest Hockey way down on sports to watch list and in DC on a good day its 5th behind Skins,Maryland B Ball,Wizards,Maryland Football, and then its a battle between Hoya B Ball,Caps and the WomeN in Big comfortAble shoes club.

If its wasnt for skimpy skirts I would have barely watch it and most of us wont watch it in 4 years because of the time difference.
