Darth Tater
How do we get to the big game in 2003? --Sign Banks for an extended contract and then sign Dilfer to be his backup -- after x games sit Banks and start Dilfer. --Tell our MLB to get arrested for obstuction of justice then have Marty and Dan tell everybody we just want to play football. Hey that formula worked before, why not again?
bulldog
on defense we need to do what the Bears did and solidify the line against the run. on offense we need to become more efficient in the passing game. Whether that means Banks becoming more consistent and being perhaps a 57% passer who hits the deep ball to compensate for some of his characteristic erratic short throws or whether that means starting over again with someone else we don't know yet. Speaking of the Ravens, isn't it amusing how smug Billick is as the "Super Bowl" coach and yet the team rode Marvin Lewis' defense to that victory and Billick's particular expertise as an offensive mind was 'along for the ride' using a ball control-no mistake strategy??? Guest fuji869
Or we can sign a young QB that has showed some promise with another team. Sign an unknown Back-up that has played in the NFL Europe and some Arena Ball. Hope the starter goes down in the preseason and then have the unknown backup from NFL Europe and Arena Ball come in and start.
OrangeSkin
We need to get Banks to progress through his reads. Brain Schottenheimer needs to get on that right away, because one of Tony's biggest mistake is choosing what player he's going to throw to before the play even starts. There could be somebody wide open, and he'd dump it off to Gardner for 6 yards. I can't believe the coaches haven't taken care of this.
2cents
Yeah, you're right, Brian S. has probably NEVER told Banks to go through all his reads, or talked to him about that every day in film study. Schott is lucky to have us on this board to tell him that. It couldn't possibly be that Banks is just a lousy QB who has had this problem his whole career and just can't do it. Sorry for this sarcasm, but you can coach some guys forever, and they just suck.....as Heath Schuler. [ by 2cents on December 10, 2001.]
