GSF
I think Bubba is a huge Skins fan and knows a lot about football. I used to debate with him all the time about SOS, but I respect what he contributes to this board. Now, if he would just admit that SOS was a boob... I absolutely loved that article. Thanks for posting it. When Gibbs first came back I had a feeling we would see some huge contrasts in Gibbs from Spurrier. Spurrier is like the Anti-Gibbs. Gibbs: humble, workaholic, people person. Spurrier: ****y, golfaholic, didn't know some of the players names.
Larry Brown #43
Great article...but am I the only one who noticed that Boswell referred to Brandon Noble as a guard? Maybe I'm being picky, but Noble's injury last year spelled the beginning of the end for our d-line...it was a pretty major development and hard to overlook... "There's an energy in the building, that's for sure" said veteran guard Brandon Noble. "I grew up in Virginia Beach. I know what Joe Gibbs coming back is about. Over the next few years, special stuff is going to happen here."
Angus
As a Cowboys fan I am apprehensive about the apparent improvement of the Redskins, but as a football fan I am happy for you that you have now got a coach who knows what to do with NFL players and how to motivate them. It is going to be interesting.
CTaylor42
That was a great article. I told all my friends, that I would like to be a fly on the wall, on the first day the players met Joe. Chris Samuels said exactly how I thought it would be...nothing but respect. I am soooo excited for the season to start!
Ancalagon the Black
What a fantastic article. Boswell's first love is obviously baseball, and he knows that sport way better than he knows football. But when he writes about Gibbs, you can tell that he's the Post Redskin section's only home-towner, one that exulted in our glory days and sunk into depression with the rest of us afterwards. The sense of exuberance in this article is impossible to miss. Eleven defensive players blitzing? Awesome. Players in no pads getting into it, breaking up passes and shoving each other around? Fantastic. Coaches that know the players' names, demand accountability, and are willing to work around the clock in pursuit of excellence? Unbeatable. The butterflies are back, and they're going to keep flitting around right through September.
