Bugs'
McCants has good size, can run the slant well, and has a nose for the end zone....he is a hell of a lot more proven than Taylor Jacobs or Cliff Russell, plus he grew up a Skins fan and loves Gibbs....match any offers. :notworthy
unsonny
up wit da 4C brother!!!! McCants is a keeper
thinker
McCants is a nice receiver and we should want to keep him. With P. Johnson leaving, we aren't realy deep now at wr. B-more is interested in him as should most teams be. He has good size and plays great in the red zone. Still, his "breakout year" last year was 27 catches. He doesn't have great speed and is not a terribly disciplined route runner. Now the Skins took a chance by making him the minimum tender, but b-more or any one else is going to have to seriously overpay for him in order for us not to match and keep him. Overpaying includes making the deal very cap unfriendly. Since the Skins appear to be $2-3 million under the cap, and about done in FA for now, we would seem to have plenty of room to match most offers - remember we already have him counting at about $700 k under the cap this year with his tender. We also have additional moves we could make to free up more space - like withdrawing our tender offers to Pierce or Bryan Johnson, cutting Trung or Larry Moore. He is not such a great proven wr or prospect that b-more is likely to make an offer so crazy that we couldn't match. And B-more is not a stupid franchise, they may have the best gm out there with Ozzie Newsome, so I think they wouldn't make a "stupid" offer.
@DCGoldPants
somebody should bookmark the page on the Ravens board where they are talking about him. All the sudden, he would be their #2, maybe #1 guy...and he's always making plays...blah blah blah. But you know if we keep him, all those people will turn into haters again. I think with Johnson going to Cincy, Taylor not doing much.........the Skins might actually push to sign McCants before the Mini-Camp and have him right now as our #3. FLSKINSFAN
How can you project him to beat out DMac when DMac had a stretch when he was making the first down catches and catching the TDs in the redzone the past two years? Well, according to reports he had the inside track to win the job last year until he got hurt in that last preseason game. So if he can stay healthy I think he will win the job this year. Either way if Mccants stays, which I hope he does, because I wouldn't count on Russell for anything. It will be a great competition.
TheDevil'sAdvocate
Originally posted by SlickNick dont know if this has been posted, I think you have to be an insider to read the whole article. this makes sense when you look at the WR's on the Ravens roster after TO left I expected this. IN fact, I expect the other free agents to get offers too. There are people around the NFL that think Bryan Johnson can be a real nice FB. I *know* there's teams that like Antonio Pierce as well. THese are the best kind of restricted free agents of all. They require *NO* compensation in the form of draft picks for a team to sign them. They basically have a neon light attached to them screaming "make me an offer". As for McCants, it might not be bad to not match any offer, especially if the offer is large. Dont be surprised if it is. Look at some of these ridiculous deals out there. (Jason Webster, CB, started 2 games in his life, signed a multi-million dollar deal with Atlanta). That 5th round pick that would come in compensation could be used to stregthen areas that are still weak. Besides, Patrick Johnson is mulling between returning to the Redskins and going to Cincy. citigent
the main problem is even if he says he wants to stay the ravens could offer him a deal that even if the skins copuld match they may choose not to. hope not though.

jmwills1
He's been one of my favorite players since we drafted him. He was always good in preseason and last year he proved to be a great 3rd wide receiver. Plus he grew up a skins fan and wants to be a skin. Why would Snyder not want him. He loves the skins, snyder loves the skins. and he is a great wr. We must keep him. Also, i think if he were to leave, jacobs could do a good job if he is healthy. He was supposed to be a 1st round pick but he slipped on draft day. Nevertheless, we need Mccants
kappaluvacee
I sure he the FO matches any offer made, if the Ravens even make an offer. Any team can express interest, making an offer sheet is a totally different thing.
atloldskin
A 5th rounder is not good value for McCants; we should have tendered him a higher offer. I think we could lose him to the Ravens if decent money is offered.
Phat Hog
I’d be surprised if we let him get away. I don’t think he’s come close to reaching his potential. :ravensuck
bulldog
Evidently, nobody wants to play for the Ravens. Owens didn't want to be in town for more than a cup of coffee. Other free agents have avoided the place like the plague. Baltimore has developed more of a reputation the past couple of years as an net exporter of talent rather than an importer. No, we dont go on a spending spree like some teams do. I've said it a 1000 times. We blew up our team went 7-9 and did better than you. A yr later we went 10-6 and won the division. We draft and we draft good. Most of our roster is from the draft. Take a look at our probowlers, 7 out of 8 were 1st rders. What talent have we exported? Most teams that took our guys of our SB roster havent really done much. Dwayne Starks or Jamie Sharper anyone? As for Mccants, I dont want to sign him. He's just like what we have. He's not that much of upgrade.

Come on, you can't be serious. Compare your #2 WR last year, Marcus Robinson, to McCants, a #3 WR. The difference over 16 games: 0.25 catches and 5.7 yards per game. Also, note that Robinson has signed with the Vikings. McCants is a huge upgrade over Travis Taylor and... Frank Sanders? Marcus Robinson 31 catches 451 yards 14.5 average 6 TDs Darnerian McCants 27 catches 360 yards 13.3 average 6 TDs
SKINZ_DOMIN8
All kidding aside........who would want to play for Crackimore? I wish they were in the NFC East so we could have 2 easy wins each year.
Raub
Heck I would keep McCants just for his attitude and nose for the endzone. He always seemed to be in the right spot in the end zone last year. The passing game gets harder in the red zone, good red zone receivers are a valuable part of the team. Gardner seems to do a great Houdini act inside the 20. Plus, McCants' showing up at the Gibbs press conference showed me he's a Redskin at heart, not just checkbook.
RedskinsMarchingBand
If we can tender McCants for a higher one we should do it now, Ravens have 2, 5th round picks, if I were them I would feel that trading a 5th rounder for a proven 3rd wide out, that could become a second or even #1 would be worth it. The Ravens are a possession team, and McCants would be their kind of reciever, plus with not much left out there as far as WR goes in the FA market they don't have many other options. :ravensuck :ravensuck :ravensuck :ravensuck :ravensuck
skinamatic
Dmac proved he can be an asset to a team. He is reliable and came up big in the clutch last year. I hope we can keep him.
sjinhan
i agree with dissonance that McCant isnt a big upgrade for the Ravens. But even if its a slight upgrade.. it is still an upgrade... i think if the Ravens sign McCant to a bigger contract than what we wanted to sign McCant for maybe we can work out something with the Ravens where instead of 5th round compensation we can try to get a 3rd rounder out of them for not matching the offer... rdsknbill
Although I would like to see MCCants stay with the Skins. , if he does leave, I hope it isn't to Baltimore. They don't have anything at QB. Do you honestly think that Anthony Wright is the starter? Oh that's right... Boller and Redman are there too. hmmm Boller can throw it 50 yards from his knees. Unfortunately, he can't throw it ten yards with any accuracy when standing up right. Redman needs to lighten up on the Pilates class untill his back heals up. Ravens fans, face it. you play in one of the weakest divisions in the entire league so you should win it , and 2000 was a fluke:ravensuck

The Lavarminator
i think mccants ends up in burgundy and gold next year. too much talent and toughness for gibbs to allow this guy to go. he is not on gardners level just yet, but with playing time i think he could be.
