Om
These posters are still alive for the 10 Bonus Points for predicting the number of regular season wins the 2001 Redskins would register: 8 wins ... Buddha, Trevor, Kizer Jose 7 wins ... Brave, Die Hard Each of these gentlemen can net up to 23 total points Sunday, and all but Kizer Jose (sorry bro) are within reach of the title. Just for grins, here's who's still alive: 65 ... RebelYell 65 ... Die Hard 65 ... Skins57 61 ... Tay 60 ... TennesseeCarl 58 ... indyskinsfan 55 ... Buddha 55 ... Trevor 54 ... SB33 54 ... skinsfan44 52 ... wildbillskins 46 ... Brave In the event we end up with a tie (something I hoped would not happen, but looks entirely possible now), I refer you to the section in the introduction and rules post that deals with this very possibility: In the unlikely event of a tie after the Redskins' last game, or the Super Bowl, whichever comes first ( ), the first Tie Breaker will be "Closest to Total Points Scored" in said game, assuming the tied players correctly predicted the Winner that week. If only one tied player correctly predicted that weeks' winner, he will be the competition winner. If, after the above, two or more players are still tied, the following additional tie breakers will apply, in the stated order: a) Cumulative Season Score in NFC East games Cumulative Season Score in NFC games c) Number of Games Predicted (your incentive to play every week!) d) Coin Flip (hey, if it's good enough for the NFL ... we'll do it at a prearranged watering hole, with plenty of well-lubricated witnesses) e) Biggest Bribe to the Admins (coins have been known to land on their sides) Hope they are as confusing to you as they are to me. Leaves some wiggle room in case it all blows up in my face. Seriously though, if anyone has any questions about any of this, please ask. Better now than Monday morning ... * Post your final game predictions here.
Guest The Angry Buddha
Because there is a strong possibility that DH and I will end up tied (since the Skins WON'T lose and I WILL get my 10 points), I assume the tiebreaking procedures will also apply to our B!tch bet. Om, since you are obviously far more qualified than me to perform the complex mathematical calculations necessary, I will leave it in your capable hands to declare a winner. ------------------ <IMG SRC="http://home.earthlink.net/~wahoofamily/flag.gif" border=0>
Om
VA Tech's "Math as a Liberal Art" program has always been known for cranking out sterling mathematicians. It's what got me this gig in the first place. That and the "Eschewing Obfuscation" Minor.
Om
This being the final act, and the one that will determine who the inaugural "Man" is, I'm holding the prediction thread open right up until kickoff, because I received an e-mail from somebody a couple of days ago saying they had lost their password and couldn't post their prediction. Unfortunately, the e-mail didn't include the poster's Extremeskins handle, so I couldn't post the prediction for them. My response was to contact Blade and/or DH to get the password, or let me know who it was so I could at least post their prediction for them if they didn't. Never heard back, and I haven't seen anyone post that actual prediction. SB33, was it you? You're the only poster still alive for the title that hasn't posted ... Just trying to look out for my brothers.
Die Hard
OM - Wow. It'll be pretty congested at the top. I hope you covered all the loopholes ------------------ Accept that some days you're the pigeon and some days the statue.
Om
Couple of points of order before I do the final math: 1) Henry and skinsfan44 became the first two posters to nail the predictions. In doing so, they uncovered a flaw in the previously posted scoring system, which was noted (with much satisfaction over my thickness) by my lovely wife, who is looking over my shoulder as I type and doing a fine job of back-seat driving. The total points for a perfect prediction, per the posted guidelines, would have been 13. Turns out it should have been 14: 5 for the win; 3 for TPS; 3 for AWM; and 3 for PTT. [One could perhaps make the case that it should be 6 for PTT, since both scores are right, but my gut says that's double dipping on some level, so unless there are strenuous and compelling objections, I'm going to use 14 and hope that when the dust settles, everyone will be satisfied that I have been as fair as I could. I haven't even done the final calculations, yet, so I don't know how any of this is going to affect the final outcome. I sincerely hope it doesn't, because I'd hate to head in to the offseason with a controversy. There'll be enough of that around here as it is ... 2) SB33 contacted me via e-mail and let me know that the mystery e-mail noted above was indeed his, so I have included his prediction, which was 20-10 Redskins. 3) There was something else, but I've forgotten what it was. Now, off to do the math. Stay tuned ...
Om
DH, hadn't seen your post before making mine. Loopholes suck. I'll try to get it all sorted out and the results up tonight. Congested, indeed.
Art
One year, when the team is 16-0, I'm going to run away with this friggen competition . ------------------ Doom is in the box.
