Guest fuji869
And even more news from Redskins.com, Stephe Davis can break the Redskins own single season rushing mark set by him. Davis Second in NFC rushing After his 111-yard performance Sunday night, Redskins running back Stephen Davis moved closer to the NFC lead in rushing yards. With 1,284 yards in 2001, Davis trails Green Bay's Ahman Green by just two yards for the conference lead. He needs just 121 yards in next week's game against the Cardinals to break the Redskins' single-season rushing record, which Davis himself set with 1,405 yards in 1999. OrangeSkin
Will he actually play though? He sprained his knee last night. He would have been number one in the NFC if he had finished the game. I doubt we'll start him and risk his health next week.
NavyDave
I'm hoping he sits out with Lavar. give the backups a look and of cure help our draft position ------------------ Take A Sip of the Marty KoolAid and Believe.
bulldog
I disagree, I think Davis will try to play. There has to be some bonus incentives to gaining say 1350 yards vs. 1250, etc.... besides this is the season finale at home on grass. I think Davis and Arrington will end up playing some. I also think KiJana Carter will get a shot for extended time as well. Carter is one of the unsung heroes of the 2001 season and we should try to re-sign him as quickly as possible. Carter looks like he may be able to spell Davis for that critical 2 or 3 game sretch if Stephen gets dinged next season. Remember how awful Hicks and Murrell were? We don't need a repeat of that. And Carter is a high-character player that gives 100% on the field and takes nothing for granted. That is an example worth its weight in gold to the younger players. TennesseeCarl
I hope Davis plays, 'cause that's what we pay him to do. But this shouldn't be the year to set a record..not with a 7-9 or 8-8 season. Let him get that 1,450 next year, enroute to an NFC Championship. Darth Tater
Unless we re-sign Carter or get a top-flight number two, Davis will need to get about 1600-1700 yards rushing for an NFC Championship. Oh yea, we could also get a pro-bowl performance by a qb combined with some luck.
JimboDaMan
Dangit, bd, you ruined my day bringing up Skip Hicks. Didn't I see him gaining 140+ in relief of Eddie George a couple of weeks ago?
