fansince62
8-8 or 7-9 means only lavar with davis as back-up to faulk. big daddy may have a chance.
Henry
We went 8-8 last year and sent three. LaVar, Davis and Champ sounds about right. ------------------ "Men, there's nothing to get excited about. The situation is normal; we are surrounded." bulldog
Arrington may not make it because of his youth. Remember these are other players making the selections and for the most part the first ballot is the hardest one. Davis has visibility and the numbers and he will go. Bailey aslo has visibility but it is going to be tough this year because the Eagles have two deserving corners as well as do the Rams with Aeneas Williams among others. It will be interesting to see what happens. I don't think any other Redskins will go, although Samuels may start to get some votes this year for his eventual inclusion down the road as well. Let's all remember the pro bowl is a popularity contest and everyone loves a winner. you win 12-13 games and you get 5 or 6 players in the pro bowl, even though those same guys may not have made it before or may not make it afterward. @DCGoldPants
Arrington will end up going. I think so will Samuels and maybe a longshot will be champ. I think with Davis' yards this season he's a lock. ------------------ [ by Bufford on December 31, 2001.]
Art
I don't think Champ deserves to go. He's been picked on more this year than last and that's not good. I wouldn't send him with the other guys out there who are not as good, but who have made more plays. Arrington should go and probably will. Davis should go and probably will, though those touchdowns are damaging to him. Samuels should go without any question whatsoever. Lang, Wilkinson, Jansen and Bates all fall just a tad short. ------------------ Doom is in the box.
NavyDave
Arrington still has the lead at OLB amng the fan votes and I just ont see him not making it. ------------------ Take A Sip of the Marty KoolAid and Believe.
Ford
I can see saying Champ shouldn't be in but IMO there is no way LaVar and Davis shouldn't make it. LaVar is the single best OLB in the league .. no question. Stephen Davis .. how can you not put him in? I agree Faulk should start but there's no way someone like Ahman Green should get the nod over Davis. Take away the threat of Favre opening up the running game for Green and he doesn't offer you too much. Green is far from a leader too .. Davis took this offense on his back. ------------------ The Redskins HQ Forum RedskinsHQ.com
Henry
Champ had an off year for him, but he still had a very good year for pretty much any other CB in the league. Who played better? I've heard A. Williams, Vincent and Taylor. Anyone else play as well as or better than Champ this year? I know you'll say Smoot, but I don't think so. Smoot played very well, but Bailey more often got the tougher guy. I don't think it would be a travesty of justice if Bailey made it this year. ------------------ "Men, there's nothing to get excited about. The situation is normal; we are surrounded." bulldog
Art, you really believe that Lang is right on that cusp of being a pro bowl candidate? I know he had an improved season but I don't see where he is comparable to one of the 4 best tackles in the NFC. I would like to see your reasoning on this one. indyskinsfan
Funny how commentators sway the "not-do-knowledgeable" among the fans portion of the voting. However, the opinion among Art and Bulldog have it closer. Champ is NOT a lock, Davis is and it would arguably unreal if he isn't. Arrington is "iffy" thanks to the commentators doing their best to help the players along in who they have faced by mentioning their name more and asking of that LB among them. That kind of plants the seeds for the commentators, who they would like to see go. There is no qustion in my mind that Arrington should go, with Brian Urlacher, Jeremiah Trotter, and I believe sentiment will put London Fletcher in. As far as tackle goes, Samuels isn't really being talked about and I agree that this isn't Champ's year, because some players and coaches will lean on stats. The really good assessors will remember the pass defensed vs. td ratio and that is where Bailey puts the sting on the competition. He hasn't given up as many big plays as it looks, but again it's the "mentioning" that plays on all of their minds, when they have a tough time making it up. There has been so many junk plays, miscues and loads of penalties, fights and all that you have to sort through this to figure who's among the best in some cases. Bailey stands out to me, but I don't think the voting will be in his favor, because of stats and maybe still some favorites. For Rookie of the Year, I think the league will be kind to voting with Smoot, Gardner, Terrell, Chambers, Bell, Thomas, and Tomilinson. Player of the Year - Brady - NE Comeback Player of the Year - Yep - Ki-Jana Carter or Garrison Hearst MVP - Pick - Brett Favre, LaVar Arrington, Kurt Warner, Marshall Faulk, Brian Urlacker, Tom Brady, Kordell Stewart Garcia, Owens, Dawkins are others
