Buddha
Gee, I hope not...let Da Bears cut him! -- Bears Looking to Trade Holdman -- from FFMastermind.com The Chicago Sun-Times reports the Bears may be finalizing a trade of LB Warrick Holdman, who is expected to be released Thursday if a taker cannot be found. It is believed the Bears have negotiated with the Washington Redskins, where Greg Blache now serves as defensive coordinator, but any team accepting Holdman would want him to agree to a new contract to avoid a $2.4 million bonus due if he is on a roster Friday. Holdman's agent, Marvin Demoff, has received permission to speak with other teams, but unless they receive a flattering offer, it's expected they will refuse any renegotiations in order to land on the open market, where they could generate interest from multiple clubs. galentjm
This guy sounds like a definite cap casualty. Wait til his cut and sign him on the cheap avoiding the $2.4 million roster bonus.

frankbones
Why wouldn't we wait until he is released?
Cskin
Maybe Greg Blanche likes him as much as he liked Phillip Daniels. I'd find it strange that we would trade for the guy when it's obvious he's going to be released by Fri. This isn't the Brunell scenario where we were afraid he'd get to the open market and then sign with the Cowboys or someone, this is a nondescript LB about to be jettisoned from a very poor Chicago defense. Buddha
Well he is under contract for the next two seasons at $600K and $700K. Even taking the roster bonus, his cap numbers would be $1.8 million and $1.9 million. Comparable to what Armstead would have cost, but with a younger player. Hell, give em the 5th rounder. I know it's just burning a hole in the front office's pocket...
big z
dammit....i was saving that 5th rounder for our punter! whoever the hell that may be....
Jimbo
I was saving our 5th rounder for a TE or our future Center but hey, Holdman is a tackling machine. You have to have at least ONE LB who can rack up well over 100 tackles per year. As I recall, he's a pretty decent blitzer as well although I'd much rather have LaVar in that capacity. Gamebreaker
Are we going to have ANY draft picks this year beside the first rounder?
Dirk Diggler
Another Weak-side Backer? WTF? I thought we were moving LA over there?
Truant
Why don't we have any confidence in signing people? Brunell stated in an interview that he would have signed with us anyway if he was released. We throw ungodly jack at players and we usually get who we want.... why throw draft picks away for no reason?
Chipper
I think booby 1 is right about gardner. He is pretty darn good for a number 2 reciever, and we aint payin him that much. I dont think he has reached full potential, cause he wasn't a prototypical "fun N gun" receiver.
