jbooma
I hear we are about to sign Kearse, the TE from Minn, etc..... If any of this is true isn't this tampering since we can not talk to their agents or them untill Tomorrow? Just curious. And why are we signing a TE to 3 million a year (if it is that amount) ? WallyG3
What scares me is that we may be overpaying. We just have to trust in Joe...

I think this is happening because Joe is not going to be around the entire contract and he feels we are just a couple players away of going for it all. Which could be why I think this is going to be loudest offseason in skins history.
Riggo-toni
What frightens the shiite out of me is the thought of giving 8 figure bonuses to guys who could have an injury and leave us majorly screwed!
Neophyte
Same here. Kearse scares me a lot. When he is completely healthy, he has been a terror in Tennessee but I worry about his health and the players around him. Bruce Smith was amazing two years ago when he lined up next to Gardner but last year not so much without great tackle support. I worry that without great tackle support even a healthy Kearse will only be average.
Utah
You know whats funny to me, is where does everyone want the money to be spent. We offer a Top CB a ton of money........too much We give a Top HB a ton of money.........too much could get hurt We are going to offer a ton of money to a DE.........he is hurt too much I mean, c'mon folks, the money has to go somewhere and it shouldn't be in draft picks. Give me guys who are proven, regardless of possibility of injury. Football is a contact sport. Guys are going to get hurt. I say sink your money into a defensive end who runs a 4.4 40 and is a 'freak'. Worth the chance.
bubba9497
I could care less what Snyder pays. He knows how to work the cap. Most NFL contracts are not guaranteed, so many players never see a huge chunk of that money. Snyder & Gibbs know what they are doing.
TD_washingtonredskins
Well-said Utah....you run the risk of a player getting hurt anytime you sign anyone!
RDSCNZ20
its going to hurt in 2-3yrs when half of the players are cut or traded because of their contracts.....I really thought when Gibbs came that we would not try to win SB yesterday....but as soon as i heard about brunell....i knew its was the usual win "now" mentality. i hope skins win atleast one SB otherwise thats another egg on our faces. Chief skin
all the contracts are back loaded so it may seem like a lot but they will never see it and we will not be killed by it, in Gibbs we trust

GB81
I would guess that we are most likely tampering. I mean, if we sign multiple guys during the first 24 hours of the FA period, it seems like a pretty big red flag. But, if the league was to make an accusation or charge of tampering, they are going to want an iron clad case. If everything that has happened so far has consisted of dinner and other "informal" private conversations, how can any of that prove anythng? Only the parties involved know what was discussed. For all we know they were talking about ice hockey. Unless an agent decides to turn on the Redskins and sell them out, they are fine. Maybe that will happen someday...so far so good. What this will do is possibly create enough acrimony league-wide so as leading teams to not want to deal with Snyder and the Skins. That has not happened either. However, one has to think that there will be some eventual ramifications if the Skins continue to be the unique offseason juggernaut they have been over the last 5 years. Jimbo
Those contracts are purposely backloaded so they can be restructured at a later date, if necessary. If they don't want to restructure, chances are they're not the kind of player you want on your team anyway. I would love to have a few of these FA's that are considered "higher priced guys". I just hope we can find a way to "creatively" sign them.
DaRock
I'd rather pick up wistrom and another end than sign kearse's big contract...trade down and pick up udeze or harris...I know, I'd love to have taylor as much as anyone..but dline needs help..i'm sick of year after year with a pitiful dline... how about wistrom..noble..harris..another end or wistrom..noble..another tackle...udeze

Everyone should try to win now. Signing Brunell is just insurance. But Gibbs isn't going to try to "win now" AND screw over the franchise for the future as Parcells has done! He wants to win now and in the future when he retires, and the moves will reflect this. Win as you rebuild.

Neophyte
Utah, there is a difference between taking a chance on a guy who has never missed a game due to injury and taking a chance on a guy who has missed close to half of the last two seasons due to injury. Where there is smoke, there is usually fire. Kearse may go 16 games this year but recent history indicates differently and I, for one, don't like the idea of giving a guy $20 million in a signing bonus only to have him sit on the bence one out of two games the first year or more. jimster
I wouldn't be surprised if some of these big names we're hearing about are decoys like Ray Rhodes is meeting with the Redskins about the HC vacancy...then out of the blue Joe Gibbs is announced -this could enable us to make a few moves for a little less money too.
