bnacpa
Does anyone know the health status of Portis? I know that he was injured late last season and didn't play in Denver's final two games. I also can't imagine that the Redskins would trade for him without giving him a thorough Physical, but I am curious as to what the official injury was and if anyone saw him play since. He was in the ProBowl, but I missed that game. Did anyone see how he performed? Thanks ...
KevinMac
I am pretty sure he was held out the extra game because the Broncos had already sewn up a playoff birth and were definately going to be on the road. Supposedly he could have played if Denver needed him to. He did play against the Colts. I'm sure he fine.
bnacpa
Did anyone see a burst of speed from him in the Playoffs or the ProBowl? I remember at the time of the injury there were rumors that it was more serious than Shannahan was letting on. Of course, with his earlier stunt regarding injury reporting in the season, the press may have just been fishing for a story.
Johnny Punani2
I'm pretty sure that Portis being medically cleared is part of the trade.
Tmac1577
yeah kevinmac you exactly right denver held portis out because they already had the playoff birth locked up if he stays healthy this season he could make a run at 2000 rushing yards
bnacpa
Has anyone seen his performance since? The reason I ask is that Edge-James for Indy has been passing physicals since his injury, but hasn't consistently shown his pre-injury burst. Last year he showed flashes, but he still hasn't returned to the stud he once was. I just hope that we aren't in that position with Portis. Joe Sick
How bad would it suck if we had the trade in place then he failed the physical? And a picture for Johnny Punani...
miragv
if he played in the pro bowl then he is probably fine.

Ghost of
I wonder if my father had lived and achieved some station in politics would people find it amusing to post pictures of him with needles sticking out of his arm because they didn't like his political beliefs? GorditoShawn
The injury to James' was much more serious than the injury to Portis. I believe the Edge's injury was a major ACL (or MCL) tear, while Portis suffered a much more minor of an injory. I am sure he's 100%

Ghost of
Perhaps. I wasn't trying to be over-the-top just wondering aloud what the limits should be and trying to bring clarity to a hypothetical by making it personal. For instance, I think marrying for money makes you an open target. I think being a racist, womanizer, bumbler, etc makes you a target. I'm just not sure if someone's substance abuse issues should be an issue if they put it behind them. Now if they still ARE a user, then maybe they need the ridicule to make them understand they need help. Now back to football: Portis is fine. He had a chest injury and someone landed on his ankle, he suffered no ligament injury and no knee injuries. He's fine and he looked great in the Pro Bowl. Well, am sure you've already noticed anyone running for political office is an open target when it comes to personal attacks. Personally, I'm fine with that as long as it doesn't get too vicious. Portis in the ProBowl took a screen pass and embarrassed 1/2 of the D to the sideline and diving from 4 yards out for a touchdown. One of those players he toasted was Lavar. I'd say Portis is more than fine.
RedskinsMarchingBand
Only reason Portis did not do much in the Colts Broncos play off game was because The colts were stacked aginst the run almsot the entire time, and knew what to expect from Shanahan. He rushed for a meager 68 yards on 17 carries, also Manning was un touchable that day. So the broncos did not have a chance to run that much
Bosko
FWIW, I watched Portis with interest in the Pro Bowl thinking he would still be a Bronco. He looked like the best back in the game.
Thiebear
if someone succombs to substance abuse and then leave it behind then, NO: They do not deserve it. One thing they deserve is a pat on the back an a kick in the pants as a day by day reminder... I personally have only quit smoking.... the rest were left 18 years ago due to joining the Army and such.... If someone marries for money they deserve it. IF they do it again then that is thier chosen lifestyle. If he was to leave it behind and marry an intern (say in Africa) then he could get credit.... . Now back to the tracks: They were saying he looked good. EJ took a lil while to it being a lil while type of injury.
michael_33
Wasn't Shanahan accused this last year for lying about certain injuries on players....?(as you are required to identify injuries before games on players) I sure hope that portis is ok?Cause portis probably wouldn't want the truth to come out either, due to his salary.... I don't like Shanahan and I also don't trust him!
bnacpa
Thanks for the update ... I think it is great if Portis ran well and was not in Denver with his O-Line
Mr. S
I like open discussion of politics, i hate personal slander pictures like the 2 posted. Besides, this is the fedex forum, those pictures should go into the tailgate section if anything. Portis should stay healthy hopefully, he still has run 1500 yards in each of 2 seasons.
