Portis rumor just reported on ESPN Radio

ESPN Radio reported that right after the Skins get Portis, it's a possibility that he will be traded to New England for both of their 1st round picks. :yikes:

As wild as this rumor sounds, there is a piece of evidence that supports it: the fact that the Skins haven't signed Portis to a new contract yet.

I have been telling anyone who would listen that the pats would not trade their two first rounders for our #5,. but they would have to be crazy not to take portis. I don't really believe this maybe if we got seymour and their firsts but otherwise that would be a crazy trade for us to make, I mean we would get what not udeze or will smith, and a couple of the rbs would be gone too. Just seems crazy to me, I don't actually think they would trade seymour.

Nooooooooooo this is stupid then why the hell are we giving up are 2nd I was just getting use to the idea of Portis tearing up Dallas D. It makes sense though because the Broncos wouldn't want to send Portis to a team in their conference. Plus they definitely would not want to give him to the super bowl champs so why not ask the skins to get him then trade him to them for their two first rounder.

This is total garbage!

How come we would over pay to get Portis if we then were just going to turn around and give him away? Only the #21 and #32 picks in the draft!

That is not even close to a fair trade. I would say for the #21-#32-#57-#64-#96 and Richard Seymour and we would have a deal.

This guy is a top flight Half Back is is more valuable then 2 first rounders after all look at what we gave up for him Champ who is worth 2 first or more by himself and a very high second rounder.

I think ESPN is just reaching for some news and making up stories to stur up things in the media. Give me a source that is reliable otherwise I mark this as CRAP.

I heard this before on this board..

We take our no 5 pick for the Texans #10 and their second round pick

We take Portis and trade them to NE for the 21st and the 32nd pick

and then we get Staley as a FA.

So we end up with

3 - 1st round picks (10th, 21st and 32nd) as well as recover our 2nd round pick that we lost with Bailey and possibly a 3rd thrown in there for good measure to recoup what was lost in the Brunell trade.

If this is true, then why would the Redskins have already tried to make a contract with Portis which was unsuccessful so far? That was another rumor flying around.

And why give up the the 2nd round pick? It was obvious that after franchising Bailey, we could have received some picks as compensation, including at least one first rounder. The Skins trading Portis would be a really roundabout way of doing things.

Also he is worth way, way, WAY more than 2 low first rounders.
