Dirk Diggler
From PFW: Detroit’s top candidates to be removed from the roster in the coming weeks are DT Luther Elliss, WR Bill Schroeder and OG Ray Brown. Brown is likely to retire, whereas Elliss and Schroeder would be released. I think he would provide outstanding depth behind Dockery and Thomas since I really don't trust Dave Fiore. Jay Master Jay
Sounds good and he'll be salary cap friendly. He can show Dockery something and be an assist. We will be power running next year.
Ian
With respect to Joe Gibbs' liking for veterans, Ray Brown is in his late 30s and his best days are behind him. Maybe let him retire as a Redskins but that's the only kind of contract I think we'll be extending to him
inmate running the asylum
With all due respect, why don't some of you guys do a little research first? Instead of always shooting from the hip. This is comical. Ray Brown will be 42 in December. Then why don't we bring back Joe Jacoby and Mark May too?
Lavarleap56
Ray Brown is way to old!!!!
Mr. S
Was Ray Brown a starter in 91? Most he could do is retire as a redskin and offer some help.
JoeSkins
If he decides to retire a Redskin, it would be one of those token deals that don't cost anything and is only official on paper.
Dirk Diggler
Inmate From what I've heard, he's still playing at a pretty high level. Yes, he's 42 but as a 12th lineman - i think he'd be pretty valuable. He could teach the young pups a thing or 2 and he already knows the offense from the old days. And it's obvious that St. Joe is all about the "here and now" anyway so if it's between a Ross Tucker-type for our last lineman and old man Brown, I go with Brown. I'm not saying the guy should be a 16 starter, just a reserve to a reserve. Sheesh.

He'd be a good guy to have on the bench if he was in shape and interested. Heck, he's about the same age as Bruce, who played quite a bit last year. GSF
Navy, I would love to see Big Banga back out there, but I'd bet he's in worse shape and more broken down that Brown.
Dirk Diggler
And BTW, this guy was in a Pro Bowl 2 seasons ago at age 40. He's had no injuires since then unlike Tre J who hasn't made it through a season unscathed since 1999. In fact, Tre Johnson might be out of the league since he can't be found at www.nfl.com Ray Brown has missed 1 game since 1994. That's right, he's started 16 of 16 for 10 straight years with the exception of 97 when he started 15 of 16. :moon:
I.M. Fletch
absolutely! he would be a good reliable backup and maybe a good sub for 15 to 20 snaps per game.
I.M. Fletch
Does anyone know if he even got released?
Bugs'
I'm with you on this Dirk...so what if he is 42yrs. old, he is more reliable than most of our other OLinemen...only 1 missed game in 10 years is incredible for an OLmen....Just because he is now 42 doesn't mean he can't play, just look at the high level DG played out into his 40's....I say sign him to the Vet minimum and let him play/coach this year and retire a skin. :peace1:
RonJeremy
Love the guy...bring him back to coach...Skins have about 15 assistants anyway...what's one more at this point??

tvan
I like Brown but we need to go young for depth. I can't see him playing much longer if at all at 42.:2cents:
I.M. Fletch
It wouldn't hurt for just one year. Youth is overrated.

I.M. Fletch
There would be nothing wrong with him being a backup and used for spot play.
