Sire
This was the article assosiated with the interview that was shown on FOX 5. I assume 4,7, & 9 will have the same clip. MIAMI -- Clinton Portis says a trade from Denver to Washington would be "a great opportunity." But even he doesn't know if the deal will happen. New Redskins coach Joe Gibbs and owner Dan Snyder, seeking to upgrade at running back, may trade four-time Pro Bowl cornerback Champ Bailey for Portis - but the deal can't be made until at least March 3, per NFL rules. Portis said he's in a wait-and-see mode, and didn't indicate one way or another if the trade will happen. "I think Mr. Snyder is trying to get his organization to a Super Bowl," Portis said Friday while attending a charity event held by Indianapolis running back and fellow former University of Miami standout Edgerrin James. "To be a part of that would be great." The proposed trade would be a swap of Pro Bowl players unhappy with their contract situations. Bailey was given permission to seek a trade after negotiations for a new contract with the Redskins stalled. Bailey turned down a nine-year, $55 million offer last fall because he disagreed with several clauses in the proposal as well as its overall structure. Portis rushed for 1,591 yards last season and has two years remaining on his contract - which paid him only $300,000 for 2003. He said he does not plan to hold out from 2004's training camp, wherever he may be playing. "I don't know what's going on," Portis said. "If it happens, it happens. ... Obviously, Denver feels like they can't give me a new deal. That's why I'm in this situation."
