Hello all! I'm a new member who has been hanging around reading what's posted for the last few days. This is an awesome site for a skins fan like me who wants to know what's going on in the offseason. I though I'd just weigh in on the issues and see what people think.

First, Sean Taylor. There seem to be two camps on this one. I definately agree that he is a truely rare player, and one that could possibly change the game for you. But, we are not really in a good position to take him right now. Having only two draft picks leaves a lot to be desired, and we could probably get better value to the team by trading down. We have to remember that depth will always be key in the NFL, and the draft is a good way to find quility backups with the potential of one day being starters. Besides, draftees usually play for less money than free agents, so we get some help with the cap by choosing our backups there. I do think that an upgrade in the safety position would be a big plus though. I watched Bowen run himself out of the play to many times last year. We need a guy with some serious speed back there.

Clinton Portis for Champ. I really like this deal for the skins, despite the loss of the second round pick. The way I see it we were going to lose Champ anyway, we might as well get what we can for him. Basically we traded a 2nd round pick for Portis, who I believe is one of the best backs in the NFL. He has a great burst, and is truly dangerous once in the defensive backfield. We can find a decent corner in FA this year as well. There seem to be an abundance of good FA corners this year.

D-Line. I'm with Lavar on this one. He said that he would prefer the team go out and get a bunch of no names with some talent, rather than a few big names. Blue collar type guys that are willing to work for their playing time. That way you always have fresh guys to bring in, and they will play with intensity every single down! I hated seeing guys play like they were in a pick-up game last year. There really just seemed to be a lack of heart in that D-Line, and the whole team for that matter last year. The only guys I saw really playing were Lavar, Coles, Ramsey, Morton, McCants and Cartright. Everyone else seemed to be set on cruise control. I will concede that a little speed on the ends would definately help out though, and trading down in the draft would give us a chance to pursue multiple quality D-Linemen.

I have not heard if we have dumped Trung yet or not. Most of you may disagree with me on this, but I think Trung could be a good guy to keep around. I don't think that he got a fair shake last year under Spurrier. We are talking about probably the fastest running back in the NFL here. One that is slightly undersized, and where does Spurrier run him? Between the tackles every time! Come on man! give the guy a chance to use his speed! Find a way to get him the ball on the outside and he could be a dangerous guy. Of course I don't want him here as a reserve if he is getting starting money. If he is willing to renegociate, he might be worth keeping, but I'll let Joe be the judge on that.

The quarterback situation. Joe Gibbs says it's an open competition, therefore it is! If Ramsey is really upset, he will get over it eventually. I think he has the skills to win the job outright if he puts his mind to it, and Gibbs will always play the person that is best for the team. Anyone that thinks Brunnell is automatically the starter because he has the bigger contract is an idiot, or an agent just trying to ruffle some feathers. Either way it ends up, we will have a good quarterback and a good backup. This is exactly what Joe always said he wanted.

Well, there you have it. My deluded and scued visions about what the reality of the situation is. Feel free to get your shots in on the newbie, and let me know what you guys think.

Welcome aboard! HTTR!!! In order. I want Taylor, Bowen is terrible and Iffy cant make up for his mistakes. I too like the Portis deal, however the latest word is the SKINS may turn around and trade him, and thus that is why we're willing to do the deal without having signed him to a long term deal. I could be persuaded if we get enough picks for him. Dline, I long ago quit listening to LaVar try to coach the team. Give me Wistrom and Kearse and Washington!!! QB, I'm not in love with Ramsey, and am actually looking forward to Brunell coming aboard. May the best man win. HTTR!!!
