jbooma
1st round pick = K2, Udeze, Taylor etc...... 2nd round pick = Portis 3rd round pick - Brunell I don't see how we could do better drafting young players like all of you say. You want to build for the future. I understand but when you get a 22 year old stud RB that is the future. The NFL is a now league not 5 years from now. The window of opportunity where a team can win is short. Look at Indy, if they do in fact franchise Peyton that team will be ripped to shreds. Gibbs has never been a fan of rookies he is always preferred veterans. The 87 and 91 teams were a bunch of free agents with some talent that we drafted. A lot of you think that the Denver OL is why Portis is so good. Look at these stats 24 runs of over 20+ yards in 2 seasons, 30 td's, a 5.5 yard per carry career average. That shows that he is also the reason those numbers are so good not just the line. If you watch him play he never goes down after the first hit. This is a no brainer even if we have to give up the 2nd. Even though I think it will end up being a Champ for Portis. For those that think we should sign Sean Alexander he is not close to Portis. There are games where he dissapears, this does not happen with Clinton.
Montilar
slight problem. Where do you factor Champ in your equation. More like: #1 Udeze. Champ, #2 Portis #3 Brunnell And if you figure Champ = 1st and 2cd.... then the second line is #1, #2, #2 Portis
bobby1
4 pro bowls for Champ and what two right for Portis this is nutts! why should we give them a secound? they should be giving us a secound.
Aluadan
Ya know what you also have to look at, the cost of those picks. Unlike picking a player straight out of the draft, you're paying a LOT more for the player you're getting. Granted in most cases that player is almost a sure star but we're kinda missing out on the good cheap young players by giving up those picks. bubba9497
This is a no brainer even if we have to give up the 2nd. Even though I think it will end up being a Champ for Portis. What's being said now is the Skins could end up with Portis, add a pick or two and or a player. This seems to be a small bidding war for Bailey starting to heat up between the Jets, Lions, and Bronco's. Others have said Denver has backed off the extra pick, instead nowe OFFERING an extra pick. Snyder and Gibbs are exploring all options, being patient and get the best deal for the Skins. The fact that the Bronco's will also take picks for CP, only makes it easier to sit back and let the teams battle it out, and still get Portis. With Clayton and others stating what I said earlier,( Champ is the bigger value because top CB are rare compared to very good backs), publicly just adds fuel behind Bailey to get even more for him.
