prophet
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/columns/story?columnist=pasquarelli_len&id=1742044 "There's only one question I have about (Miami, Fla., safety) Sean Taylor and that's the fact he isn't the surest tackler back there. I mean, sometimes he's just coming so full-bore, and is so hell-bent on making the huge hit, he doesn't wrap up. But other than that, I think he's going to be an all-timer at the position. We could be talking a Ronnie Lott-type guy here, and that's not just (hyperbole)." -- Len Pasquarelli
RabidFan
Sounds like Roy Williams and early Lavar that just go for the stick with no wrapping....he'll learn the wrap method after Deuce and Davis bounce off him and run by
jbooma
If we get Portis and have to give up the 2nd round pick, we won't be picking at #
citigent
coming from pastabelly discounts it some , but as much as i wanted taylor if portis come i see the skins trading down and waving bye bye to taylor.
@DCGoldPants
I still can't see sending a 2nd rounder from the 04 draft when we've got so few picks. If we're sitting at #5 in the draft and Taylor is there, I think you take him. We'll have a new CB on one side and we need a really talented Safety behind him. AJWatson3
so he missed tackling greg jones in the orange bowl this year, when greg jones (6'1" 250lbs) had 10 yards to get up speed. roy williams wouldn't make that stop, let alone any number of pro-football players. i'd bet i saw sean taylor play more than len pastabelly has over the last three seasons, and i haven't seen him miss too many tackles. how about a different analysis: john clayton "Sean Taylor of Miami is the ultimate playmaker. He makes crunching tackles in the mold of Roy Williams of the Dallas Cowboys and he snares interceptions with the ease of Ed Reed of the Baltimore Ravens." mel kiper "Q: How does Miami safety Sean Taylor compare to current Dallas Cowboys S Roy Williams, when Williams came out of Oklahoma? Kiper: Taylor is bigger than Williams (6' 2-1/4" 225lbs vs. 6' 235) and looks to be a better overall safety at this point. Williams is a special player, no doubt, but Taylor has unbelievable skills and is the best defensive player in the 2004 draft."
Troy Fakeman
You all constantly disrespect our best player. Yes he misses tackles....but he also disrupts the gameplay in every game against every team. He'll learn....and then you all will bow to his supremacy. dissonance19
I like Taylor just like the next guy. Hell, Id like him on my Ravens. Ed Reed plays strong safety for us. But theres a clip of Kevin Jones, at this site where they show highlights of Jones and he makes Taylor look silly by him trying to dive at Jones and he just totally misses. Actually makes a few Miami players look silly. And the whole pitt team but thats not an accomplishment. Who doesnt make the whole pitt team look silly? Theres also clips of Roy Williams(the wr), Steven Jackson(very short tho), Quincy Wilson , Cedric Cobbs and Sean Taylor has his own at his profile on the site. It shows him running half the field (in slow motion, which doesnt look as great as it was on tv) and intercepting a pass. http://nfldraft.fasthost.tv/index.htm
essex03
Can we get off this Safety talk, especially now that we are down a CB? The last thing we need is a rookie safety to go with that. We need D-LINE people... if you cant stop the run and rush the passer, you cant win. Period. D-Line! Come on people, say it with me... D-Line...Trade down to 10, draft Udeze or Harris, and pick up an extra 2nd rounder... D-Line....
