Who's going to be excited when Grant Wistrom comes to the Redskins...?

I just have that cool, calm and collective feeling that Wistrom will be 1 of our DE's this next season...

How could i possibly know this....?

Well,I don't really...!But the Rams Can't TAG him...That's for sure....With the Tag going to Pace they will have no choice, but to let him go unless he just wants to stay there...

He's the perfect DE for us as well.....Blue collar workhorse player that plays his heart out....

good pass rusher....good against the run....has good hands (has got a few interceptions in his tenure)...good tackler....strong.....quick.....and so on...!

He's probably my favorite Rams player and i'm just hoping we snag him up....

IMO...He would be an excellent addition to a troubled line....

Why dump a draft pick for kearse(TAGGED?) or any resticted FA...when we can get one with just money...?

Then...if we get a 1st or more for Champ,we can use one of those for maybe udezi on the other side...

Then the other pick could be Taylor of course...?

Who knows...?Maybe we can ask Renaldo Wynn to add some weight and move his over-priced body to the inside...

Right next to Ted Washington...?

Grant would be the starting point of getting our trenches back on track. He has an engine similar to Marco Coleman's in term of attitude and 110% on every play. The primary difference is that he is much younger and has much more athleticism and skill.

He would be one of the best free agent acquisitions we could acquire. Only problem is that he won't come cheap.

I love it. He's been a hard worker ever since he joined the league. Where Kearse's work ethic has come under fire, as well as his motor in the post season, Wistrom's has not.

The guy would be perfect with Udeze on the other side. I would then be satisfied with Noble, Holsey and perhaps another draftee at DT........

Oh as well as Sean Taylor if we get another 1st rounder........

I think they are completely missing on Snyder and what he does over the offseason. Last seasons acquisitions from the Jets and other teams were very very productive for the Redskins. I think that Kearse has a legitimate chance of ending up as a Redskin (if he doesn't resign with TN). I also think that several players such as Ahmad Plummer or Winfield from Buffalo have not been addressed. Gibbs & Co. will definitely get an experienced veteran to fill the void by departing Champ Bailey (If he departs).

The other interesting thing about that sight is the projection of Sean Taylor going to the Giants. If history repeats itself, the Giants will go after a top OT in the draft similar to Boscelly (sp?) from Coughlin's first season in JAX. They need a lot of OL help, their biggest weakness, so I think they will go after that spot and leave Taylor to us, if we haven't traded down for more picks at that time.

good pass rusher

???? I'd say inconsistent; or only as good as his teammates are. In other words; A Wynn clone. We already have several of that kind of DE (Wynn, Upshaw, Zellner). We really need a pass rush DE.

look at his sack record....

41.5 over 6 years. So about 7 a year on average.

Would he help? Yes. Will he help enough to be worth a big contract? Debatable.

I have to agree with Montilar here. Wistrom is not the answer IMO. I've watched him play a little and it seemed to me that he was running himself out of the play most of the time by getting too far up field.

At 267 he wasn't holding the point of attack too well against the run (not that we need more "run stopping" DE's). His olny real plus seems to be a good motor. That's a good thing, but hardly what I want to build a D-line around.

Pass on Wistrom. He's not a great pass rusher. He does have a good motor and can bring some pressure, but probably not enough to warrant the contract he's most likely looking for. I prefer Darren Howard who while not a elite pass rusher is a better all around end, IMO. Add Howard, Robaire Smith or Ted Washington, Daniels, Troy Vincent and draft Sean Taylor and I think we'll have a pretty damn good defense.
