Funkyalligator
After watching the combine yesterday....I have a thought....Samuels has had two bad years in a row...due to coaching probably.but......and he has Sexton for an agent and his deal needs to be reworked.....should Sexton try and hold up the skins because of the Ramsey issue by refusing to have Samuels rework the contract...what do you guys think about cutting Samuels loose and drafting Robert Gallery...he too is a left tackle and a very impressive one at that.....now if we do this and then get Detroits #6 pick for Champ we can trade down and pick up a DT or DE with one pick in the first and take Jake Grove with the second........imagine having a starting line of Jansen, Gallery, Grove, Thomas and Dockery all developing under the best OL coach in the game.....Bugle...simply sick....then we use the rest of our picks on DL and other defensive players.... Thoughts...etc....i.e. what would the salary cap ramifications for cutting Samuels be....etc.
The Slammer
I don't think this is a likely scenario. Even if we did cut Samuels and were looking for a replacement, the probability that Gallery makes it past the Giants is very, very slim.
J33Edwards
I don't give up on Samuels yet for an unknown...I think we all know Samuels is capable of great things in this league. Everyone from the media, the fans, to players such as Tre Johnson have questioned the blocking schemes of Spurrier. I think we have to give him a chance to work under Gibbs, Bugel and Co. However, if Gibbs and Bugel don't like what they see of him on tape or in camp then I would support their decision to find a replacement...I don't think Gallery is likely though. bredskin
spending 10-12 million on a signing bonus for another tackle isn't a very good idea. We could get a suitable replacement in free agency. Remember....Brunell is a lefty, so the left tackle won't be protecting the blind side. As for letting Samuels go....for $9 million...see you later. Winey played better.
KirkNC
Samuals sign and trade to Bills. Skins return is Travis Henry
Jimbo
Give Joe Bugel a chance to work with Samuels. He needs a chance to be de-Spurriered. I think things will look a little different this year.

Highway66
I think the O-line got a bad rap in Spurriers system. Our line isnt as bad is they say.
NavyDave
Get off of the studs for a running back nonsense!!!!!! Champ for a running back and now samuels for a running back? Jeez what is with you peeps? The running scheme was flawed last year consisting of mainly draws, scat back up the gut and our big(?) back running wide. A stud lineman for a decent running back at best?
EvoSkins
If the Skins cut Samuels, what will the cap hit be? He is set to make $9 million this year so we will take a big hit if he is cut. If we decide to draft Gallery who will ask for a huge contract, how will this work out?
Funkyalligator
I am bringing all this up because i have seen some statements that seem to indicate that Sexton might try and use Samuels contract renegotiation as leverage concerning a Ramsey trade and perhaps the only way for us to keep Ramsey is shove the Samuels renegotiation in Sexton's greedy little face.... Renegade7
There's no wya we can just straight up cut him, and get nothing for him. But at the same time, no one is goin to trade for Sameuls either. This is a tough pill to swallow, but it looks like we're goin to have to keep him and try as hard as possible to fix his contract. He's supposed to make +$13 mill over the next two years, and this last season proved to my that even despite the loser coaching he's not playing up to the standard of which that type of money could possibly be earned. Take away his inconsictency and u still have a pro-bowl tackle. Plus, even if we get rid of Sameuls, the g-men would take Robert Gallery before we had a chance to think about it. ----------------------------- 0-16, 19-0, skins fan till i die!!! ----------------------------- 0-16, 19-0, skins fan till i die!!! The Full Monty
Hey Slammer I've always been curious, who's the dude hittnig Ramsey in your profile? is he in the pros? looks like 'kearney' (falcons player)...
lavargofar
I think "Sam the mule" might be taking the summers off? Unlike LaVar who has come in every year bigger and stronger from weight lifting and hard work. It would seem that "Sam The Mule" hasn't had the same inner drive to improve himself year to year like LaVar Has done. I'd like to think its just the slower developmet time at OL, but when LaVar ran over "Sam The Mule" in the start of last years camp, took his feet out from under him and left him their with his legs up in the air like he had just been punked, I knew he hadn't been working out. But he still has great potental, even if he's two years behind where he should be. With the Bugle's on him 24-7, his development should progress, and with no recent pro bowls to bargan with, he's not in a real strong position to refuse to redo his contract. atloldskin
Samuels had two bad years, but he is talented. Give him a year first with Bugle before any talks of cutting him and drafting a OT. Besides, there is no real cap savings this year.
