ljer
Last night on the NFL combine show. They were talking to the Pats personnel dude (I forget his name). "We're not interested in big name, high priced guys...we want guys that want to play football". What a concept, huh??

Skins26
On that note, I would liked to have been a fly on the wall when Gibbs and Staff watched film and witnessed Bailey giving up on some plays this past season. I just wonder what was said........ Me too! Especially when they watched him stop and walk against Miami. And even more in that last game against the Eales when Staley or someone got outside and instead of taking on a blocker or going for the tackle, Bailey tiptoed out of bounds away from the action, that one made me sick. Another thing that I think I saw that MAY not be true this is just me trying to read lips, was in that Eagles game when Bowen was really pissed at himself for messing up and from what it looked like to me Bailey said something like dont worry about it nobody cares about this game anyways. TC4
I always thought the best quote is whenever Len Pasquerelli says, "Can I get fifths and sixths please?"

PCS
not sure how we got here from there. But what Joe had to say about Champ. In case you missed it. He's got pretty skinny lines thee, so careful when you squeeze inbetween them to read. (Reason for letting Champ Bailey go?): "Actually, we would love to have Champ. I mean, who wouldn't? You're talking about somebody that's a young guy, that's been in the Pro Bowl, never missed a game. He's one of the premier corners in the game, and we love that. It's just that our situation with him, and the ongoing talks that we had with him, we felt like with what he was going to ask, it was going to be hard for us to do that. So then it became a process of what else can you do here to help the football team if this is going to work out. Now, it may very well still wind up that we put him on the tag, because you've got a guy there who is a tremendous talent. We like him. We'd love to have a chance to sign him. And who knows, maybe at some point we do."
Burgold
The give-up plays frustrated me too, but let's not talk of him as he wasn't a very good player. Thing is, if he wants to be paid as the elite, as the top at his position or the top in the NFL overall I think he needs to be a gamechanger. But the biggest thing is, Champ seems to not want to be here. The article that quoted saying... Once the 'skins work out the parameters for a trade... we can get Bailey's contract done in thirty minutes is very telling. It tells us either... the Redskins heard what he wants and are totally unwilling to go there or that the agent hasn't negotiated a deal because Champ wants to be elsewhere. I think when he gave up on plays it was because he gave up on this team. I would like him to come back, but not because of some astronomical contract, but because he feels a part of the community, is being paid/offered enough money to easily live out his life, and wants to build something great. If he isn't interested in being a part of this team, in putting forth a real/negotiated effort to make it work... what can you do?
HapHaszard
I agree with Burgold, good post. I stilll have this feeling that he will be here when the season starts.
