All Quiet on the Sexton Front

What gives here, fellas?

Sexton isn't one known for his taciturn disposition. He's the firebrand Southern Baptist minister who wails at the decadence of society when nary a nick at Christian morals and mores rears its ugly presence. Does Sexton's silence signal something?

Maybe, then maybe not. Inferring things from someone's silence is a very tricky thing. Verily, there are too many possibilities at play here. My guess -- and it's only that and perhaps one laced with eternal hope -- is that Ramsey may have told Sexton to shut his little trap and let the chips fall where they may. Indeed, Ramsey himself has disavowed any desire for a trade and has welcomed the challenge of a face-off with Brunell. He also has trusted the long-standing integrity of Gibbs, as well he should.

So, what may be buzzing through the gossamers of Sexton's addled mind? Who knows? But hopefully, with what Ramsey has said in the past and Sexton's silence now, we can think brighter thoughts.

Frankly, I think meeting with an agent to discuss what the coach plans to do with the team is disgusting.

If you want to meet with him to TELL him what's up as a courtesy, that's one thing, but IMO there should be no 'discussion' of anything with an agent unless it's over contract.

And furthermore, if Sexton doesn't like this move, and uses his relationship with other players as leverage in this situation, he should have all of his licenses stripped from him.

Friggin' agents have gotten to be too big a part of the NFL and they need to return to their place.

I think the meeting is more about restructuring Samuels contract before the FA signing period. Sexton also handles Chris Samulel's. The press just wants the spin to be about Ramsey... a sexier story.

I said "MORE ABOUT" not "ALL ABOUT" restructuring Samuels contract

and if Ramsey said Nix the trade stuff..... I assume Sexton will comply.

The most probably scenario is that the meeting is primarily about Samuels. They need the $ before March 3 or else miss out on the early FAs, this need might mean we already have one or two big ones already in our sights. They can either cut Bruce to get some of it too, though.

If this is about Ramsey, Sexton should get agent of the year.

Here is something interesting, from Maske:

With Jimmy Sexton, he is one of the best in the business and he has gotten a raw deal in Washington lately. He is not using Chris Samuels as leverage in the Patrick Ramsey situation. That has been speculated without any basis to it. In Samuels's case, it simply is not the best time to renegotiate his contract since Samuels is coming off a less-than-stellar season. He has no leverage. In Ramsey's case, it is Jimmy Sexton's job as an agent to try to get the best possible situation for his client, to try to get him to a team where he'd be the starter if he can't be the starter in Washington. That is what an agent is supposed to do, but it doesn't mean that a team has to accommodate the agent or the player.

Dude, do you think that's a slight hit against Nunyo? He was the one who initially reported that, as I recall.

Man, you guys are hillarious. Always blaming/bashing the media whenever you read a story you disagree with. What a joke. So every sportswriter is wrong whenever they write something derogatory about the 'Skins???

Some here can tell difference between speculation & fact. ;)
