Pittsburgh Steelers and Former AFL Quarterback Tommy Maddox Kicks-off In-Studio Guest Analyst Series

NEW YORK –- February 19, 2004 –- The AFL on NBC returns to its regular timeslot of Sundays at 3 p.m. ET this weekend with regional coverage of five games (Feb. 22). Additionally, the TelePrompTer-free studio show begins its series of rotating guest analysts with Pittsburgh Steelers and former AFL quarterback Tommy Maddox. NBC's AFL broadcast shifted to Saturday last week due to the Daytona 500.

The AFL on NBC studio show, hosted by Al Trautwig with analyst Glenn Parker and guest analyst Maddox, will kick-off the day with a preview of the regional coverage, including live interviews from the venues. The weekly studio show features pre-game analysis, halftime game updates from around the league, as well as the latest NFL and other sports news, and post-game wrap-up interviews.

NBC's regional coverage is highlighted by the lead game between two undefeated teams: John Elway's Colorado franchise (2-0) taking on Chicago (2-0) at the Allstate Arena. NBC's Eli Gold (play-by-play), Charles Davis (analyst) and Mark Schanowski (sideline reporter) from WMAQ-TV in Chicago have the call.

NBC's other AFL regional games include:

Los Angeles (2-0) home-opener against San Jose (1-0) at the Staples Center:

Tom Hammond (play-by-play), Pat Haden (analyst) and Lewis Johnson (sideline reporter) will broadcast the game.

Tampa Bay (1-1) @ Austin (1-0): NBC's Bill Weber (play-by-play), Pat Sperduto (analyst) and Roger Wallace (sideline reporter) from KXAN-TV in Austin.

Expansion franchise New Orleans (2-0) takes on Georgia (1-1): Allen Bestwick (play-by-play), Mike Pawlawski (analyst) and Fred Kalil (sideline reporter) from WXIA-TV in New Orleans.

Dallas (1-1) @ New York (1-1): Bob Papa (play-by-play), Ray Bentley (analyst) and Otis Livingston (sideline reporter) from WNBC-TV in New York.
