PennState11
Im tired of people trashing Champ now that hes probably going to leave. People who talked good about him before are now saying hes only in it for the money because he wants to go to Detroit. If you guys havent noticed we are not a winner either. I dont see anything wrong with wanting to go play with your brother. I would do the same thing if i was in his shoes. He was a classy player while he was with us so lets let him leave with a little bit of class.
kappaluvacee
People are trashing Champ because he doesn't want to be here. He's hiding behind the fact that he wants to play with his brother. Detroit stinks, and they are going to continue to stink. Forst he says he's tired of losing. In comes Gibbs, if he wants to be a winner with the 'Skins now is when it's going to happen. Then he says he wants to be one of the highes paid defenders in the league, come-on. Making him the highes paid player at his position is what we were going to do for him. If he can't accept that then he should just admit that he hates this team. We can all see it, he should just admit it. He's been treated well by this organization. Did Lavar ask to be the highes paid person at his position? No, He settled for being one of the top paid players at his position so he could remain a Redskin. Jay Master Jay
Champ never said he didn't want to be here. He said he wants the same respect our team gives other FA. He wants to be appreciated and paid like other FA we have signed. Why does his bonus have to be tiered down while others get there up front? He has been a class act while watching others like Deion, Smith and George get big paydays while he had his same contract.
PCS
Sigh. No offense. Merely a tension breaker here. The number of threads with Champ merely in the title of the thread in past 4 days. Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaargh!!! Carry on. btw...hope he resigns...and soon
Chrisbob74
Some people are trashing him, no doubt, but I would say the majority are just hopeful that whatever happens is best for the team, whether he resigns or is traded. I would like him to stay, but at the same time if he gets a mad contract it will mean struggling with the cap in a few years time, of course he deserves to be one of the highest paid corners in the league, but he has to be reasonable in how the deal is structured in order to help the team and to make sure we don't have to constantly ask him for help restructuring for cap room. If he leaves then we must ensure we get the best possible compensation for him.
Jay Master Jay
Whatever contract he gets he get redone anyway. That is how business is done in the NFL. Every big contract is redone in a few years. That's why we had to cut Stephen Davis it's the nature of the business.

Chrisbob74
That's true and I said that on another post myself, the point is, if he insists on high salaries early in the contract or even amounts all the way through it will make it very hard to cope with cap wise and would require frequent restructuring. Sire
Most people are trashing Champ. Just read the posts. If the Skins make this trade atleast get value. Those of you who want Smoot to be the #1 corner on the roster, Be careful what you wish for. Save Champ

New
Up till this year, I would have agreed with you. Champ quietly went out and did his job. Now he's just quiet.
