aREDSKIN
According to the FTU- Redskins offer Brunell 4 years Mark Brunell's status was unchanged Thursday, although the Washington Redskins slightly altered their lucrative contract offer to the veteran quarterback. While maintaining their $20 million proposal (including an $8 million signing bonus), the Redskins now want to stretch that over four years instead of three, according to a league source who did not want to be named because of NFL tampering rules. Washington is offering its third-round draft pick (73rd overall) to the Jaguars for Brunell, who continues to indicate he will waive the $2 million roster bonus due from Jacksonville on March 1in hopes of facilitating a trade. League rules prevent any trades until the NFL's calendar year begins March 3. http://www.jacksonville.com/tu-online/stories/021304/jag_14808481.shtml

fish
Originally posted by ragintd I like this deal a whole lot more then the first one (3y-20m). I also like it better now that we're talkin 3rd rnd pick rather than 2nd rnd pick. If, when the smoke clears and we enter training camp with Taylor (1st rnd pick), a DL-man in the 2nd rnd, an additional DL-man as FA and Ramsey and Brunnel as our QBs, I think we would have to call this a successful off-season. Zen-like Todd
Yeah, because the Redskins are just sitting around going "Hey, you know that offer we made for three years? We'd like to spend the same amount of money, but have you work another year." Why can't they just admit they were wrong the first time the reported it? Funny. We've gone from a 2nd round pick and a three year contract, to a 3rd round pick and a four year contract with the same overall value. By the time this ends, the Jaguars will be sending us a first rounder to have us take him off our hands, and we'll sign Brunell to a vet-min deal on the condition that he also does the laundry at Redskins Park. Om
I'm not supposed to say this due to the NFL tampering rules, but according to someone with ties sporting the logo of the organization, part of the proposed deal is that the Skins retain veto power over whatever pick the Jags make with the traded 3rd rounder. If they happen to pick a guy the Skins want, the player actually becomes a Redskin, and the Jaguar's reps at the draft have to wear Skins ball caps to the after-draft party that night. bobby1
Why would we need Shawn Taylor? Iffy is getting better every year, and Matt is solid if anything we need first roung DL help and secound round TE.

bnacpa
Doesn't a 4 year deal imply that MB will be around for 3 years now instead of 4, with most of the money backloaded onto the final year? I don't like that for Ramsey's sake.
