bubba9497
Shockey to resume rehabilitation immediately Posted: Wednesday February 11, 2004 http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2004/football/nfl/02/11/bc.fbn.shockeysurgery.ap/index.html EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) -- New York Giants tight end Jeremy Shockey had an arthroscopic procedure on Wednesday on the left knee that sidelined him for the final two months of the season. The surgery was performed at Doctors Hospital on the campus of the University of Miami by Dr. John Uribe, the Hurricanes' team doctor. "This was a planned procedure," Giants coach Tom Coughlin said. "Jeremy was here for 10 days working to rehabilitate his knee and still suffered some discomfort." During the procedure, Uribe found a healed posterior cruciate ligament and a mild irritation to the joint, Giants trainer Ronnie Barnes said. There were no other structural abnormalities and the prognosis is excellent, he added. Coughlin said Shockey left the hospital walking under his own power. He is expected to resume his rehabilitation immediately. Shockey hurt the knee on Nov. 9 against Atlanta and missed the final seven games of the season. He finished with 48 receptions for 535 yards and two touchdowns. He was selected to the Pro Bowl for a second straight year, but was replaced by Packers tight end Bubba Franks. WallyG3
I wonder why he waited so long to have the surgery. Did he not previously know that he needed it? Not that I'm complaining...
@DCGoldPants
I was thinking the same thing. I guess they thought it would heal without surgery.....and they were wrong.
