Chicago Bears: The club hired a new defensive line coach Tuesday. Karl Dunbar, who was a reserve defensive tackle for five NFL seasons, was named to the position according to the Chicago Tribune. Richard Dent, who was an assistant defensive line coach last season, said his status has not been determined.

Denver Broncos: Though documents presented in court suggested owner Pat Bowlen's family was involved in buying the Denver Broncos, he testified Tuesday that they were inaccurate. The documents indicated that Bowlen represented either Texas Northern Productions or Hambledon Estates Ltd. -- companies set up by Bowlen, two brothers and a sister -- when he purchased 60.8 percent of the team from former owner Edgar Kaiser in 1984. Such a distinction is important because Kaiser claims Bowlen violated the terms of their purchase agreement by allocating ownership of the team to members of his family and later offering a 20 percent share of the team to former quarterback John Elway. The sale agreement stipulated that Bowlen be the sole owner and that he first offer any sale of the team to Kaiser.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers: The team is reportedly preparing to make an offer for QB Mark Brunell, although team spokesman Jeff Kamis would neither confirm nor deny the team having interest in the 11-year veteran. A Tampa Bay official did tell the Tampa Tribune recently the Bucs have discussed the possibility of obtaining Brunell. As for Brunell, his agent Leigh Steinberg was keeping his options open. "We have no way of knowing if the Bucs are interested in trading for Mark, but who wouldn't want to play for Jon Gruden?'' Steinberg told the Tribune. The offer could perhaps contain WR Keyshawn Johnson, who coach Jack Del Rio would like to bring to Jacksonville.

Arizona Cardinals: Mix the bloodlines of QB Eli Manning or the athleticism of QB Ben Roethlisberger with the Cardinals need at the position and you have a perfect match, right? Wrong. Coach Dennis Green said Tuesday that it is unlikely that the club would pick a quarterback because it was very pleased with Josh McCown, who was just named the starter. "Josh McCown, I think he is going to be a great one," Green told the East Valley Tribune. "I think people have a hard time believing it, but when I buy into a quarterback, I really do. That's my track record. Nothing against Eli Manning or Drew Henson or Ben Roethlisberger, but we have to be sold on what we see a player do. The proof ... will be how Josh McCown does over the next few years."

Atlanta Falcons: Last year the team wore black Jerseys for six home dates and alternate red ones for two home games. Next season it will be the exact opposite. League officials approved the team's request to permanently make the change to red jerseys. "We first talked [to NFL officials] in November after we first wore them [Nov. 23] against Tennessee," executive vice president of marketing/sales Dick Sullivan told the Atlanta Journal Constitution. "It was driven in part by fans, coaches, players ... Everybody seems to love them."

New York Jets: QB Ricky Ray has been the CFL's best QB the last two seasons with the Edmonton Eskimos, completing 65 percent of his passes and throwing 69 TDs and 22 INTs. Ray could be the team's next backup, possibly replacing the 40-year-old Vinny Testaverde. According to the New York Post he will be in town today for a workout. The Jets were one of 12 teams who scouted a workout Ray conducted in December and according to Ray's agent more teams are interested in the CFL star. The Dolphins recently tried him out, but he didn't impress them enough for them to offer him a contract.

Baltimore Ravens: The club is expected to name Washington lawyer Richard Cass as president when minority owner Steve Bisciotti assumes control of the team in April. Cass will travel with Bisciotti and Art Modell to the NFL's owners meetings tomorrow in Orlando, Fla. "Steve has indicated to us that Dick will be a top executive in our company, and we have begun meetings with Dick," Kevin Byrne, Ravens VP of public and community relations told the Baltimore Sun. "We have no formal announcement at this time." Cass is best known for his work with Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones. Cass represented Jones and Texas Stadium after the NFL filed a $300 million marketing rights lawsuit against Jones nine years ago. The league dropped its lawsuit in December 1996, and in turn, Jones dropped his $750 million countersuit against the NFL.

Washington Redskins: If QB Patrick Ramsey was miffed to learn that coach Joe Gibbs is looking to acquire Mark Brunell, he'll be livid when he hears the latest news. According to the Washington Post, Gibbs is looking at Jeff Garcia and Trent Dilfer as possible trade targets. Gibbs wasn't available to comment, but earlier in the day he said he would be traveling to meet with other players before the market opens March 3.

LOL

Why would Ramsey fear Dilfer or noodle-armed Garcia? LOL what a joke these guys are becoming.

It's the BIg Lie technique--it merely requires repetition and then you got people on Xtreme and other boards demanding we trade that "primadonna" or that Gibbs is a dishonest person.
