Novato
February 11 (9:00 AM): NFL QB carousel in full swing...No team around the NFL appears tpo be working harder these days to upgrade its QB position than Miami. The Dolphins, for example, are the only team being mentioned as serious suitors in the pursuit of both veteran Jacksonville QB Mark Brunell and 2003 Houston draftee Drew Henson. Both Brunell and Henson are being shopped around the league with no shortage of interest being shown. In addition to their pursuit of Brunell and Henson, the Dolhins have also reportedly offered Washington their #1 pick at the 2004 draft, the 20th selection overall, for incumbent Redskins' starter Patrick Ramsey, should Washington ultimately land Brunell. The Redskins are saying that Ramsey, there top pick in 2002, isn't going anywhere, however, the fact that Brunell would have competition if he went to Washington, which has reportedly offered its #2 pick, the 41st overall this year, to Jacksonville for Brunell, is one of the biggest stumbling blocks to his going to the Redskins. And Ramsey let the Redskins know yesterday that he was not happy with the situation after he felt he earned the top job with the Redskins with a solid season last fall. Meanwhile, failing all else, Miami has also been reported to be considering making an offer to Philadelphia restricted free agent QB A.J. Feeley when the free agent signing period starts early next month. The Eagles, though, are likely to peg Feeley with a high compensation value. Elsewhere, Edmonton QB Ricky Ray continues his tour of NFL cities today in New York where he will meet with the Jets. The 6-3, 215-pound Ray, who led the Eskimos to the 2003 Grey Cup title in Canada, along the way completing 68% of his passes, has in fact met with close to half the teams around the league, and reportedly has an offer to sign with at least one. The deadline for CFL players to sign with an NFL team is the end of February. Also they've updated their 2 round Mock Draft and have the Redskins selecting Tommie Harris in the first and Jason Babin (DE) in the second.
