bnacpa
I understand that Ramsey may be a little irked that he is potentially losing his starting position. I do not believe that he would go directly over Gibbs' head, especially when Gibbs has been very up front with him all along. On the flip side, however, this is a business and Ramsey and his agent have to figure out the financial impact of this arrangement. Ramsey originally signed a crappy 1st round QB contract that had lots of incentives should he become the starting QB. Ramsey now stands to lose most of those incentive clauses. I think that his agent calling Snyder had more to do with trying to get his contract renegotiated or something worked out so that Ramsey is not negatively impacted in the wallet. I honestly believe that Ramsey has too much brains and confidence to shy away from learning from a veteran or competing for his starting job. I do think, however, that he doesn't want to have gone through years like last year, just to take a pay cut. Basically he stands to lose money, but not based on his performance. I hope that Danny realizes this and figures out a way to renegotiate the contract so that he can give Ramsey more guaranteed money up front and hopefully incorporate some of the incentives into his salary instead of keeping so many incentive clauses. I think this would end up creating a win-win scenario in both cases. :dallasuck
Even Madder
That's ridiculous. You're saying that the Skins should give Ramsey a fat bonus for sitting on the bench? Why? As a consolation prize? His current contract motivates him to win the starting job. It costs him money if he gets benched. You want to replace that with a contract where it doesn't matter if he plays or not? Dumb. The Skins owe him nothing that's not in his contract. Harsh but true. Remember, Ramsey held out for that contract -- he knows it's a business. The only way Ramsey loses money is if he gets beat out by another QB. You think he's afraid of a 34-year-old QB who got beaten out by a rookie this year? Come on. Ramsey should be itching for the fight.
TC4
Gee it all sounds simple to me Ramsey come into training camp with his skills and his howitzer of a right arm and beats out a 33 year old washed up QB with bad knees
