jbooma
With what we have drafted with our #2 the last couple of years with Jacobs and Betts, Vinny knows we can't get someone on the field with that pick so might as well trade it for someone we know would play  . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Utah
You know, you can't argue with that logic too much.
Destino
Didn't we get Smoot in the second round? Either way it's too early to judge Jacobs, and Betts is as productive and less destructive then a old guy with too much pride that insists on pushing his religion in the locker room. GURU
Draft picks weren't gold back when Gibbs coached before. Gibbs learned about aquiring personnel from Bobby Beathard, who routinely traded draft picks to help get the kind of players Gibbs wanted. Getting the kinds of players he thinks will help him win is the priority. This whole think is interesting to me. This is really Gibbs first run at acquiring personnel. Before, he mainly coached the players that were given to him. He had some input and influence as far as telling Beathard what his needs were and what kinds of players he was looking for. But this is really the first time he has had this much power in aquiring players. Gibbs came in and started running his NASCAR team a little differently than what the norm was. He ended up setting the standard in how to build a racing organization. So I guess it doesn't surprised me that he might take a little different tack that what a lot of football "traditionalists" are calling for (e.i. building through the draft, etc.). WM_Marylander
I'm not sure the Jansen 2nd rounder was a bad one. Or even Smoot for that matter There should be some talent in that round, though hopefully they go for a linebacker or a lineman.
NavyDave
Yep Jansen a second rounder in the year we drafted Champ '99. Betts isnt a bust and if given the chance can be steady. Too early to judge Jacobs
