Positive attributes

TE Robert Royal has several things working in his favor. He's not making much money, he's a lively presence in the locker room, and he also is a capable receiver. He must dramatically improve his blocking, however. The team will rely on the tight end greatly in the running game. Royal is smart enough to understand such a role. The question is whether he's talented enough and physical enough to deliver.

SS Ifeayni Ohalete could fit very nicely in the team's new defense. He's a big hitter with a knack for being around the ball and creating turnovers. He'll make mistakes, but they rarely will be big ones. If he continues to improve, he'll be a more than capable starter.

Offseason projects

QB Patrick Ramsey will be working with the coaching staff to improve his decision making and footwork. Ramsey must understand that sometimes the best play in coach Joe Gibbs' offense is to throw the ball away. Ramsey gets into trouble when he tries to make something out of nothing or holds the ball too long and takes a sack and fumbles. Gibbs has no patience for quarterbacks who make those mistakes.

WR Rod Gardner must learn to separate from defensive backs better, and he also must improve his concentration. Gardner has size and large hands; if the coaches can teach him to get off the line quickly and overpower defensive backs, he can have an important role in the offense. He also must learn to look every pass into his hands.

IAMBG.......I share those same sentiments regarding Royal. However, it was hard to do so considering we had a coach who placed little emphasis on tight ends, and the fact that Royal was out with injury for the bulk of the season. I'm sure he'll get a long look in training camp to secure one of our two tight end spots.

And hopefully he'll still be here to learn from Gibbs!!

Royal just had a freak injury this past year with his broken hip or whatever, that was just weird.

The only reason he was on IR the year before is b/c he sprained his ankle in the last preseason game, like a 2 week thing, but we needed TE right then, and we didnt want to cut him, and didnt have room on the practice squad, so we stored him on IR. I dont think he's injury prone.

And he did do a very nice job receiving in the games he was in this year.

That a boy Iffy!
