Well, now he says that while we're meeting with Brunell tomorrow.....Dallas, San Diego, Etc are all still in the game for him.

Very Nice....San Diego could give him the start right away.

We should grab Blake and put him as the #2 guy.

Jerks

did you read the article about Green releasing Blake? They basically said he'd do more harm than good as a back-up. I'd rather have Griese.

Yes. He's backtracking. He's been saying things about S.D. and such. He's been saying that Gibbs would meet with Brunell. What he didn't say this time, that he did mention last time, was the trade. In Mort's business, that's a backtrack. If true, he would have followed up on it. That's his job. Yes maybe the situation has changed. He was "corrected".

He doesn't have to mention every detail all the time. The fact is Gibbs is going to meet with Brunell, we know Brunell doesn't want to be a backup. Even last year there was a rumor we were going to trade for him in spring training.

I don't think this is going away any time soon. I still think Ramsey is hurt worse then we know and might be out a lot longer.

basically, before it was nearly a done deal. Now it's "Well, the trade can't happen till march so other teams are still in the race for him"

Why not AZ offering him the STARTING job and maybe Larry Fitzgerald to give Brunell a tough ass WR corp.

Shoot....right now there are quite a few teams that would definitley offer him the Starting job. 2 of them are in Florida.

First Lenny P said that The Skins where very close to trading for Brunell

Then it was Mort saying it was a done deal as early as Tuesday

Then, not only was it a done deal but the Skins were thinking of trading Ramsey

now it is.... Well, the deal can't happen before March 4th, and Gibbs is going to talk to Brunell, but Jax has 3 other teams who want to talk about trading for Brunell

I would call that backtracking

Yes he does. That's known in the business as a "bombshell" that he dropped with trade talk, hardly "every detail". As a reporter you most assuradely followup on something like that. He didn't. He backtracked.

But your still missing the point. The mere fact that Gibbs wants Brunnell is a sign that he is not satisfied with the current status or production from the QB position. And that's a fact.

But the level of dissatisfaction is the question. Basically I think Gibbs wants a quality Veteran as a backup. To give Ramsey competition in training camp, and be a mentor for him during the season.

If the Skins do trade for Brunell, I see The Roster as

Ramsey #1

Brunell #2 (but might beat Ramsey out for the starting QB this season)

Hasselback #3

Ham Sandwich- Practice Squad

But that is just speculation on my part

Context, man, context. Here is the quote:

If the Redskins are willing to give up a second-round pick for Brunell, it doesn't bode well for Ramsey's immediate future as a starter. One NFL team official who requested anonymity said yesterday that a second-round pick is too steep for merely a backup quarterback.

Sounds a little less definitive than your statement, doesn't it? Gibbs wants a veteran QB. His statements make it clear that he puts a high value on that. Getting one of Brunell's quality might very well be worth a second-round pick to him. I could even see him opening the QB position. I do not unequivocally believe that Brunell's arrival spells the end for Ramsey.

Just be patient, and see how it plays out. Could it be possible that the reporters are all trying to scoop each other on this, and that they may be jumping the gun on things?

Brunell isn't coming here unless he's the starter. He'll veto any trade a to team that doesn't make him a starter. How can he do that- by retiring.

If Brunell come here; he's the new starting QB and Ramsey will be traded. Gibbs will want a veteran to backup Brunell.

If Brunell comes here, the roster could be:

Starting Qb- Brunell

Backup QB- Blake

3rd String- Hassellback or somebody else

Ramsey is traded for a #1.
