Brunnell to be a Redskin

Washington DC (AP)-- As in recent years, Dan Snyder and his Redskins are wasting no time this offseason. Sources from inside the Redskins are saying that a deal is all but done that will bring Jacksonville Jaguar quarterback Mark Brunell, a nine year vet and four time pro-bowler, to Washington in an exchange for the Redskins number five pick in the draft. The Redskins will also recieve the Jaguars ninth pick in the draft as well as a conditional second round pick in next years draft.

Returning coach Joe Gibbs has indicated more than once that the team would seek a veteran quaterback. Gibbs is known for having success with older veteran quarterbacks, and it is believed that Brunell would be the starter opening day.

Sources also revealed that the future of quarterback Patrick Ramsey with the Redskins has yet to be decided, and there has been talk of a possible trade . One of the teams said to be interested in Ramsey are the Dallas Cowboys. Ramsey threw for 2166 yards in 2003 with 14 touchdowns and 9 interceptions, but took a beating for much of the year playing in Steve Spurrier's pass happy offense.

one if true why get rid of ramsey i believe i seen on espn that ramsey cap hit shouldn't be to bad even for a backup for 1-2 years, then take over as starter, plus if true now who do the skins pick at no. 9 , i think this could be good since we didnt lose the number of picks we had(already not having many) but only if brunnell redoes his contract but i would assume that was worked out before the deal was agreed to(once again if true!) no way the skins trade ramsey to the cowboys,, unless they offer r.williams then ok.

I do think Brunell, next year's No. 2 and No. 9 in this draft is probably fair for No. 5 in this draft. I think it's sheer speculation to think Ramsey is in trouble. It's connecting dots that don't need to be connected and it's doing so without actually connecting them at all.

It's clown time. And that's the least of the penalties you could give this guy for pulling off such a stunt. Here's a list of AP wire reports. Note how GSF's article, which is time stamped at 2:15 EST, isn't on this list.
