pga
"Kornheiser's radio silence Tony Kornheiser will leave his show on ESPN Radio at the end of March to concentrate on ESPN's Pardon the Interruption, other ESPN assignments and his column for The Washington Post. "Given the success and demands of PTI, the load just got too much," ESPN executive vice president Mark Shapiro said Sunday. "Tony has proven time and again that good looks have nothing to do with success in show business." A search for a replacement is underway." Saw this in USA Today and he just confirmed it on his show. I like his show ALOT and will miss it. There are both supporters and haters on this site so I thought it was worthy of a thread. pga :40oz:

@DCGoldPants
Well, maybe we'll get lucky and somebody cool takes his place. I thinK Riggo would be funny....but he can't do a show everyday. It'll have to be a writer or t.v./radio guy.
BG
That SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Means we'll have some local redneck blabbing off about USC and Clemson in the morning. SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love TK's show. Not a big fan of PTI, but the radio show is funny, entertaining and of course informative....
pga
Yeah, I'm pretty crushed as silly as that sounds. Like you guys have said his show gets us thru the day with wit and great entertainment! Damn......who knows who will replace him. Wilbon maybe? Thiesman? I hope not Chris Moore who sits in for him. He STINKS.

Tony has been doing it for over 6 years now. The sad thing is all the guests he gets, I like hearing from all the other writers. Without Tony's success you wouldn't see around the horn or PTI. This will be a hard show to replace. One of his best moves recently was "old guy radio" classic
SkinInsite
It's too bad, i wish ESPN would have left him alone about the uncensored internet break show. You have people cursing, crude jokes and talking about Denny Green taking the high road, funniest show ever on radio.
pga
Oh yeah, the internet show was incredible! No doubt.......Wilbon would have just as many jobs then so probably not him. Satchmo is the only guy who could get pro athletes to come on but never does cuz he thinks most of them are dopes.
TankRizzo
I for one am pretty happy. He doesn't belong on sports radio, he's ALWAYS talking about some other crap whether it's fashion, the last episode of 24 or whatever. Good riddance! NavyDave
I like the talk about 24 which by the way is on tomorrow and will mess up my viewing the homboy/ girl shows on WB and UPN. Hmm maybe more Mike and Mike and tony bruno?
pga
Tony Bruno would be pretty good, but he is a Fox guy.

Ghost of
I have a love/hate relationship with his show. I like Duke and Pollin, and I actually think Kornheiser has a good radio voice. Listening to his show can almost be kind of soothing in a way, and I Certainly prefer it to some type of gonzo program. BUT, I actually want to hear about sports. I don't need his opinions on traffic patterns in the DC area, I don't need the incessant coverage of tennis or talk about his golf game or who he played golf with or ate with. I definitely don't want to hear about what he ate that weekend, etc. What I find ridiculous is his disdain for the athletes he covers to the point where he won't even try to get the more intelligent or more entertaining athletes on the show and have real candid talks with them. Even if he brought in some tennis guy, it might be interesting. I actually think Kornheiser prefers to be the focus of his show and wouldn't know how to engage and ad-lib with an athlete that was media savvy. Thats exactly why he was superior to the same old boring "sports talk" shows. Tony is awesome. I am really going to miss him in the afternoons. The Internet show was the best... no holds bar. Tony's show appeals to a mature intellegent crowd, not for everyone. Damn I am bummed now.
New
Give me sports on the sports radio station!!! We recently got sportingnews radio to go up against espn radio here in Charlotte, and it has been a breath of fresh air. NOTHING BUT SPORTS!!! James Brown, from FOX pregame (and a closet SKINS fan), is up against Tony "the view" Kornheiser. Its not even close. While Tony's ****in about his studio for two hours and giving me updates on the View and oprah, James is getting a littany of sports stars and discussing current sporting events. CYA T!
