Joey T
in today's NFL. That's Extreme:D Ya gotta give it up to NE and their coaching staff. Two kids I love from the University of Michigan, Brady and Law have played a major role:applause:
EvoSkins
Hey, the Skins were the last team to beat the Pats. HAIL TO THE REDSKINS!!!
Montilar
You know, the patriots are kind of like an old gibbs team. They don't get the fear and respect someone like the rams or Bucs did. but who ends up winning? the pats. People don't want to play them because they know they are a good team, but they do not fear them because they don't see a "superior" team. Just like gibbs against the bears, or bills or Broncos. The Bills and Broncos were favored to win those super bowls I seem to remember.
Ghost of
One thing though, Gibbs teams won in blowouts, except in the one against the Dolphins(I'm referring to the victories not the blowout loss, of course)
LadyNRedskinsfan
no thats not luck at all. it is pretty nice to say that we were the last team to beat the pats about 16 weeks ago! they are gonna be good for a while with 2 #1's and 2 #2's in the draft plus a pretty good cap situation. Montilar
Gibbs' teams did not always win in blowouts. In the super bowl, yes. with two weeks to prepare, gibbs and staff are THE masters. But look at the seasons. Two of the three super bowl season had close games where the team won just like the pats do. And it took a D. Green punt to beat the bears in the playoffs one year. it took D. Green batting a ball down at the goal line against Minn. one year to advance. Ghost of
I was referring only to the super bowls. BUT, the fact is while there were close games, there were also blowouts in the playoffs--in 6 games, have the Pats had one very easy and comfortable game? Sanders 83
Well I think the teams are a little bit more even these days. There was really only one blowout game of an NFC team and the was the.... COWGIRLIES... HAHAHAHA. The Colts blew two teams out, but they were both very poor defenses. NE hasn't played in "cake" games in the playoffs. Poor Detroit never had a chance against the 91 Skins, we were clearly far superior.
SonnyRules
Yeah, hard working coaches; no superstars; smart players...that will do it every time.
inmate running the asylum
The Patriots are a well coached team that rarely beats itself, which is the mark of very good team. But when Brady threw that interception in the end zone, that was a dumb mistake which very well could have cost them the game. For they threw away a chance at a chip-shot field goal at the time. But they escaped that mistake when Kasay kicked off out of bounds with the score tied and it allowed the Pats to start at their own 40 yard line. That was the ole ball game. NoCalMike
The thing about today's NFL though is that no matter how good someone thinks a team is, there is too much parity to be absolutely sure. I remember when the Skins and 'boys won the bowl in the 90's they were both picked before the season started by most experts. Now every year you have predictions way out of left field because nothing is for sure. Hell the Pats didn't make the playoffs last year. So is it THAT OFF to predict they don't make the playoffs in 2004? Look at the Raiders/Bucs. Teams just fall of the maps these days, and every team looks like a superbowl candidate on any given week now.
