Plaxico Burress

The Kansas City Star speculates that the Chiefs may trade back-up running back Larry Johnson to the Steelers for wide receiver Plaxico Burress. The Steelers are looking to upgrade their running back corps. The trading period begins March 3, which coincides with the beginning of free agency.

Duce Staley

Bears, cowboys, Raiders, Buccaneers, Lions, Steelers,

Redskins

The Chicago Sun-Times indicates that the Bears may be interested in soon-to-be free agent running back Duce Staley for their new offense. The Bears' new offensive coordinator, Terry Shea, formerly with the Chiefs, plans to pass 60 percent on first downs, use draws and misdirection plays in the backfield and feature a wide-open, spread offensive attack in the air. Staley would fit this scheme better than current starter Anthony Thomas.

Staley, who held out for four weeks last summer, has said he won't return to the Eagles next season. He will be an unrestricted free agent and will look for a team for which he'll be a starter.

Other teams that may be looking for a starting running back are Dallas, Detroit, Oakland, Pittsburgh, Tampa Bay and Washington.

Mark Brunell

Buccaneers, Dolphins

Miami may be interested in signing Mark Brunell, who is expected to be released, according to the Miami Herald. The veteran could also land in Tampa Bay to compete with incumbent Brad Johnson for the starting quarterback job, reports the Tampa Tribune. Brunell, though, only wants to join a team as its starter.

Wow.... the steelers giving up on Burress.... seems abit premature. Maddox quit throwing him the ball... but until then... he was dominating opposing cornerbacks with his height and speed.

Larry Johnson is someone I thought about in Burgandy and Gold. He's a power back with enough speed to break free, and he's got good hands from a receiver point of view.

Maybe a Rod Gardner for Larry Johnson should be floated around in KC. What do you think?

Hey guys, don't be too quick to trade Gardner. I'm not exactly in love with him either. Last year was a big step back for him over 2002 (but then again - who did have a good year on the offense except Coles?) We may not be as deep at wr as you think:

Obviously we are set at #1 with Coles; McCants and P Johnson are unsigned; Jacobs - who knows?; Russell - perhaps has one last chance to show he can play. That lineup doesn't really lend itself to considering Gardner a throw away player.

gee, you left out the fact that they had Corey Dillon listed too

Corey Dillon

Redskins, Cowboys, Raiders, Buccaneers

Jan. 21 - The Bucs and Cowboys are reportedly attempting to trade for Corey Dillon, who is not expected to return to the Bengals.

An NFL executive told the Tampa Tribune that it may not take more than a third- or fourth-round draft pick to land Dillon. The Redskins and Raiders are also interested. If Dillon is traded, it likely will be before the April 24-25 draft. If the Bengals can't trade him and his high salary ($3.3 million in '04 and $3.8 million in '05), they are expected to cut him after signing restricted free agent Rudi Johnson to a long-term deal.

Also Rudi was mentioned :paranoid:

Rudi Johnson

Bengals, Redskins, Cowboys, Raiders, Buccaneers

Jan. 20 - Restricted free agent Rudi Johnson is expected to become the Bengals' No. 1 running back next season, and his agent has entered discussions with Cincinnati on a long-term contract, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer.

The Bengals will look for a back-up running back in the draft. Possibilities include Northern Illinois' Michael Turner, Florida State's Greg Jones and Auburn's Brandon Johnson.

Living here in the KC area this last year gave me some scoop on Johnson.

Bottomline: All the media here were slammig the pick. Basically he sucks and was picked ONLy to get Preist to the bargaining table and insurance if he didn't recover from thehip injury. Yes Johnson was impressive as a colliegiate athlete but he has NOT impressed as a pro.

If that trade happened, KC would get the better of the bargain.

Also, this discussion just jogged my memory. Larry Johnson was recently charged with something... either domestic violence or a DUI/Drug thing.

I saw him spell Priest once the last quarter of the year, I thought he hit the hole hard and ran with authority. Of course, you being from KC I have to trust your "scoop".

Amen. Curt Warner (the original) was probably the last decent RB to come out of Happy Valley.

Johnson for Gardner :puke: :puke:

A kick returner for a solid #2 reciever:doh:

Gardner is fine he just needs to work on concentration He is the only reciever on the team that uses his hands to catch every pass(when he catches:) ). If he gets his head on strait he is one of the best #2 guys in the league.
