Taylor Made
Got this off the Falcons board, who got it off a Saints Board... http://boards.atlantafalcons.com/messageview.cfm?catid=65&threadid=551631 Saints Prepared to Make Draft Day History …Again 29JAN04 0940EST By API reporter Less Ahness Just three seasons removed from one of the most controversial and bizarre draft day spectacles in the history of the NFL, it appears that the team from the Big Easy is ready for more of the same. Anonymous sources close to the Saints’ brass have reported that New Orleans, which holds two picks in the second round, thanks to the Turley trade with the Rams, is prepared to offer both second round picks and its first round pick (#18) to San Diego for the right to pick first. The source wasn’t able to pinpoint the target of the Saints manuevering; however there is widespread speculation that the Saints could be learning what Indy knew several years back when they picked a Manning first overall; that is: a Manning under center equals wins for an organization. It is believed , that under the tutelage of seasoned veteran Aaron Brooks, Manning could be the franchise savior that former coach Mike Ditka envisioned Ricky Williams to be. Many experts believe that Aaron Brooks would garner at least a first round pick in a trade. Some say just a first round wouldn’t be enough for the gunslinger out of Virginia, who once served as a Brett Farve backup. They believe that a package deal with a first round pick and top LB or CB included would be a fair if not good deal to perspective suitors of Brooks’ talents. Washington Redskins new head coach Joe Gibbs is said to be so enamored with Brooks, that a first round pick and disgruntled CB Champ Bailey as a trade to finish off the package deal would be acceptable if it were doable this season (2004). Attempts to reach Chargers headquarters were unsuccessful.
Samuels
Complete BS. Brooks is'nt worth a 1st and would'nt start over Ramsey if I were coach. And no way NO can trade #18 and 2 2nd rounders to get #1 they can't even get #5 for that.It would take both of NE 1st rounders plus thier 2nd rounder to go from #21 to #5. Zen-like Todd
That is the funniest fake article I've seen in a long time.
laurent
Hahaha, CB plus our 5th overall pick for Brooks? That would easily qualify as one of the dumbest trades in history.
SonnyJ
This is hilarious. I've been on Champ's case as much as anyone, but I wouldn't trade his rights straight up for Brooks' (and I'm a Wahoo!). Champ AND a first???? They've gotta be kidding. I like Brooks and believe he has a lot of ability, but we're set at QB. It makes no sense to trade the ranch for him. Someone pulled this out of their a$$. There is no way it has any basis in fact. OURYEAR#56
Hold on now. Brooks is a good QB. He had good numbers last year, do your home work. With that said I don't see Gibbs going after Brooks.....until he's seasoned veteran like Doug Williams. That would be in the next few years when the Eli has worn out Brook welcome. laurent
While on the subject of NO and CB, would you guys accept a deal that would send Bailey to the Saints for both of their first rounders which in turn could be packaged for a deal to put us in position to pick both Taylor and Udeze? geezings81
I heard the same thing from a " friend ", but it had Brooks and #1 draft pick FOR Champ.
Henry
Uh, isn't Champ going to be a free agent? How does a team trade a free agent, exactly?
Buddha
This is the dumbest "article" I have read in a long time. And I am now dumber for having read it.
SonnyJ
I think they mean franchise him and trade his rights.
Miskinske
The article is so rediculous it shouldnt even merit a response. To think we are dumb enough to trade our top pick AND Champ for a QB when we already have a promisoing QB in Ramsey defies logic.

Gilgamesh
Give me a break. This would be the worst trade in team history.
Jay Master Jay
That makes a lot of sense because we dont have a young first round QB that looked good on ESPN  I heard Gibbs say the other day how disappointed he was in Ramsey and didn't want him also. This is one of the worse post this year.
DraftNik
No way the Skins can afford to pay for two top-10 draft picks plus a serviceable to great corner (Winfield, McAllister, Law?) to replace Champ. The article is preposterous.
