citigent
with all the names thrown up on who the new rb should be i thought id throw another into the pot. dominic rhodes form ind. he is a rfa so i dont know waht the price would be as compistation but his salary shouldn't be to high and with the colts throwing money at manning they wont go to high to keep him . kayjay33
Am I the only person that would like to see D. Staley wearing the burgundy and gold. He is still relatively young, a hard runner, and can you imagine the type of game he would want to have against Philly next season. I see him as a J. Gibbs type of back (strong and relatively good speed).:eaglesuck :gaintsuck :dallasuck
Jake
I'm with you there Kayjay. I want Duce here, too.
Jay Master Jay
I'd like to give Betts a chance and get a veteran back up like Eddie George.
citigent
i wasnt sayong no to duece i just looking at all the possibilties what if duece brings would cost to much you got to have a back up plan
Destino
Rhodes is worth looking into. Duece is a injury prone head case that demands too much money. Eddie George is past his prime and should retire, he's got absolutely nothing to offer the redskins other then stories of his good ol days. citigent
no way george should even be an option, to worn down, not sure why duce is a head case? only knock was he held out last year.
marhobo2
T J Duckett. Betts as backup. Morton third downs. Y'all can rest easy once (if) it's a done deal.
Kilmer17
Betts is a younger Duce Staley.
citigent
i think it would be great if betts was the answer, that would free up the money for a new rb for other positions. that will be up to gibbs.
Riggo-toni
Unless they make him a 1st round tender, which they won't, Rhodes was an UDFA, so I don't think we give up anything for him.
Die Hard
If Betts would just stay healthy.... this conversation would be moot. I'm willing to give hiim 1 more season to clinch the starting RB position. If he can't do it this year... then you begin the search for a new RB. But you look at the RBs Gibbs featured... castoffs from other teams and role players that stepped up. I just don't see this team pursuing high profile RBs. At least not yet. carlsbadd
I think that we may end up parting with most of our RB core and go after Dillion. At least that's what my crystal ball says.:fortune:
TC4
I want a good RB too, but I'm just not at all sold on either Duce Staley or Corey Dillion Both are pushing 30 and would be at best a one or two year stop gap Let's get a good solid YOUNG RB
laurent
As long as we're throwing names around how about Greenbay's Najeh Davenport? They have him listed as FB but man that guy can run. He's huge, 6'1" 245lbs, and amazingly fast for his size and can flat our run the rock.

He holds out once so he a headcase? He's the heart and soul of that Philly team, and the only guy who showed up to play in the NFC championship game. What makes him a headcase 1st of all, then what makes him injury prone when 5 out of 7 seasons he's played 16 games. One of those he played in 13 and only played 5 games before his only major injury. Get a clue blue.
TheSchwartz
I don't see why the guys on the roster won't work. None of them have ever really had a chance to show what they can do. I want someone to tell me why the Redskins have to go after a different RB I don't think I have heard one convincing argument in favor of it. Everyone here seems to think its a given that we will go after one in a trade of Free Agency. After the first mini-camp Gibbs will probably realize that these guys can get it done and will probably pick up a young RB in the 3rd round or 7th round or the top Undrafted player. Trung is probably gone because he and Morton are both speed backs and Morton has more versatility as a special teams player. But that leaves Betts to be the back on 1st/2nd down, Morton to be the back in 3rd down/passing situations and Rock to be the short yardage/goaline back. That seems like it could get us through to next year. The Patriots are getting it done without a topflight RB, and have now done it twice with Antowain Smith and Kevin Faulk. Forget a new RB the skins need to concentrate on the DL and that's it.
