BillyKilmer
INSIDE DISH: Henson's NFL stock rising Dan Pompei / Posted: 3 hours ago Interest in Drew Henson is picking up, as the word out of Bradenton, Fla., is that Henson looks like a highly skilled quarterback and a tremendous athlete. Henson is working out at the IMG complex with former quarterbacks coach Larry Kennan in an attempt to get back in football shape and show interested NFL teams what kind of ability he has. The Texans own his rights after selecting Henson in the sixth round of the 2003 draft and are interested in trading him. The asking price is believed to be a future second-round pick. If Houston doesn't trade or sign Henson, he will be available in the April draft, and it is expected he would be a late first-round selection. Henson, who last played football at Michigan in 2000, has been playing third base in the Yankees' farm system. ... Workhorse running back Eddie George doesn't figure to be back with the Titans next season. Associated Press The strong finish of Titans rookie RB Chris Brown might make it easier for Tennessee to cut Eddie George in the off-season. But the Titans can't go into next season relying solely on Brown. If George goes, look for the Titans to draft a back fairly high. The team also will demand that Brown hit the weights hard and put on some pounds. If Brown can become stronger and more durable, he has a chance to give the team what George has for years. . . . Even though the Lions finished last in the NFL in rushing yards per game by a wide margin, management does not view running back as one of the team's primary needs. Detroit would like to bring back James Stewart at a reduced salary and pair him with Artose Pinner now that Pinner finally is getting healthy. The Lions also plan on taking a running back in the middle or late rounds of the draft. . . . Lost in the Chiefs' disheartening playoff loss to the Colts was this pearl: Kansas City LT Willie Roaf arguably played the best game of his illustrious career, shutting down Colts RE Dwight Freeney and holding the big-play specialist to no tackles and no assists. . . . QB Brett Favre has committed to play for the Packers next season — but not beyond 2004. That does not mean Favre, 34, will retire after the coming season. It just means the Packers have to be ready in case he does. They plan on finding his successor this off-season. . . . Rookie Rashean Mathis started the season at safety for Jacksonville, but it looks as though he has found a home at corner. The Jaguars moved Mathis to cornerback in late October, and they believe he has a chance to be a special player at the position. Chances are the Jaguars will not re-sign CB Fernando Bryant and will re-sign SS Donovan Darius, so the team might have a bigger need at cornerback. . . . Head coaches such as the Patriots' Bill Belichick are not helping their assistants become head coaches by preventing them from speaking to the media. More than one front-office executive who was searching for a head coach this off-season expressed concern that the Patriots' assistants don't have experience in dealing with the media, which has become a big part of being a head coach. Furthermore, assistants such as Romeo Crennel and Charlie Weis aren't as well known as others because their personalities and viewpoints have been suppressed. Bazooka Tooth
Looks like that could have been a pretty good move by the Texans
scottb
Is Henson really worth a 1 or 2 pick?

Jay Master Jay
Eddie George would be a nice pick up. He'll be out to prove himself and would probably take a contract with a lot of incentives. He could be a veteran work horse for us.
@DCGoldPants
Henson could just wait for the April draft....maybe even attend the combine. If he does well, he could go back into the draft and Houston wasted that pick. I think he'd do well in Pittsburgh or the Giants. On the Eddie George tip.....if Coach Joe thinks Betts is good enough to take a chunk of carries....then I would be for Eddie coming in on a 3 year, incentive loaded deal. If Coach Joe thinks we need something more. I want Duce.
Hitman56
Eddie George has been injured since '99. I don't want any part of that.
