Vegas-Born
I see alot of talk about diferent running backs that may or may not be in the skins backfield next season. I don't know much, but I know that I don't want Corey Dillion. I realy like Chris Perry from Michigan and he may be around late 1st or early 2nd in teh draft. Who would you guys like to see taking the hand offs? And Who do you think will likely be taking the Hand offs? :dallasuck :eaglesuck :gaintsuck
GB81
Personally, I wouldn't mind picking up Stacey Mack (I believe he is a UFA) and using him and Ladell Betts together. Mack could probably be had relatively cheap and is great in short yardage/goal line situations. Seems like our cap room could be better utilized elsewhere. Drafting a RB in the 3rd round or later wouldn't be a bad idea either.
Funkyalligator
I'd like to see us get Greg Jones from FSU in the second round....if we trade down in the first we will be able to pick up a DT/DE in the first and DE/DT in the second as well as a rb in the second
Destino
All this cheap nonsense is driving me crazy. You want to save money? Save it somewhere else, the running game is a important position that wins and loses games. If you can't run you are easily beaten because you can't ice a game. Don't believe me, ask the Cowboys, Rams, and Eagles if the running game Carolina brought to the table was a big deal or not.

Teams like the Eagles and the Patriots sepnd more money on the defensive and offensive lines and save money on positions like WR and RB. they also win 11-13 games a year. Often when big time RBs go down, their cheap back ups do well, with a marginal drop off. See Dominic Rhodes and James Mungro when Edge went down or DeShaun Foster for Stephen Davis. Running back and Linebacker are the positions where you can save money. We have a very talented O-line that, with much improved coaching, could be spectacualr running the football. Wasting money on a big name RB would be a mistake.
Funkyalligator
Draft Greg Jones in the second!!!! Take a look at his picture in the other thread...he is a beast!!!!!
GB81
I have no problem with drafting Greg Jones, especially if he drops to the 3rd round. That being said, guys like Thomas Jones and Michael Pittman have arms simialr to Jones', and they aren't exactly challenging the single season rushing record. And BTW - had the eagles spent money on a real running back perhaps McNabb wouldn't have to do EVERYTHING for that team and they would have been in a superbowl by now. GB81
Smith, Centers and Faulk (who gets the lion's share of the playing time) are probably slghtly worse runners than Betts, Canidate and Cartright...but our probably better overall when it comes to pciking up a blitz and catching the ball out of the backfield. That bieng said, they are exceedingly affordable. I actually think the Eagles have three quality backs in Buckhalter, Staley and Westbrook. They are just cheap because they are so young (Westbrook was a 3rd round pick). Staley will cost more now, so they will let him go. I just appreciate the philosophy. OURYEAR#56
HEY BLUE two things buddy. First drop the blue, I keep thinking youre a Giants fan that is trying to sabotage my team. Second, you don't need a feature back to be a good running team. The Pats don't have feature backs. They have backs that are effective in different conditions. The same can be said about the Eagles. Last year Tampa Bay won with Michael Pittman. You don't need a great back to be a great team. As a mtter of fact I think that we have enough talent in the back field to do what we need to. It's just tat Spurrier didn't and couldn't use them effectively. Betts could be the bruiser, Trung can skate, and.....this is why I wish we kept Watson. we need a 5'11 back that weighs 215-225. Other than that I feel we are straight in the back field. Please don't use the fifth pick on a dollar and a dream. Let's get a player that can be productive for the next five to ten years. Troy Fakeman
Jones from VT at the no. 5 spot .....NOTHING wrong with that...

Hogwash
i Think Cartwright is the best back on our team. he should be the starting HB.

TODD
Fakeman, wouldn't you rather trade down and get another pick than take someone 20 picks higher than he will go?
Vegas-Born
I think drafting a pick late (TRADE DOWN) is the best move. We realy don't need another free agent bust on our hands. Chris Perry in the second or third, or Jones...both could solid ball carriers
Montilar
How do you know Jones will go at 25? Because the great god Kiper has slid him down his board? Or the mediot pundits say so? or the fantasy draft boards say so? sorry. the only ones that count are the SCOUTS and team front offices. I doubt the teams are telling Kiper and crew anything UNLESS it's a smokescreen. He may go at 25. He may go later. He may run a 4.3 and blow everyone away, then catch everything thrown to him, and have 500 reps in the strength test. All that is unknown.
BillyKilmer
I don't see Gibbs trusting a Rookie at RB That means a free agent and or RB by trade I doubt Trung or Ladell are here in 12 months (I like Trung and Ladell ) That number 5 pick will go to defense or be traded for extra picks How do I know these things? Just call it a gift; don't be jealous. I will always be here to share with you.
redskinjones
How about another Michigan boy in Tyrone Wheatley, course I don't know how tied up in Oakland he is but they have a couple of big bruising backs, I would imagine they will lose some of those backs, I haven't heard anything, it is just a thought, however Gibbs does like the veterans. Ghost of
Wheatley has got almost nothing left. We'd be better off getting Eddie George lol
redskinjones
Yea, but riggins came outa retirement, I don't necessarily like getting a wheatley, just speculation, I like perry, and jones, they are just unproven.
TODD
We have a young Wheatley right now with Cartwright. Both are excellent short yardage guys, but Cartwright is about 40 years younger. Go Blue
