If he wants to be a part-timer, he probably won't want an interest in the 'Skins. If that's so, why not give him a look, Danny? Maybe then you can get the blessing of Sally Jenkins.

Tony Grossi, of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, reports Cleveland Browns head coach Butch Davis and team president and CEO Carmen Policy met with former Green Bay Packers general manager Ron Wolf Thursday, Jan. 15, about becoming a team consultant. However, Wolf said he would only be interested in a part-time role at the present time. "Just so everybody understands, I essentially want to remain retired," Wolf said. "I'm not looking for a full-time job. If those parameters can be met, I'd be interested. I'm very impressed with that [browns] operation, always have been. Its history speaks for itself. Its tradition."

What tradition is that, Ron? The original franchise is in Baltimore now!

Not really. Gibbs has hit this town like a damn hurricane, has the energy level way, way up, and is planting the seeds of the same kind of professional, committed, exhaustively detail-oriented operation he ran the last time around. I don't want to see anybody who is not fully prepared to lock himself in the bunker and bleed burgundy in the mix.

I know where we're going with this, by the way, so I'll come right out and say it: if nothing else, Vinny and The Dan have shown tremendous committment to trying to do this thing right all along. I've never questioned that. My only real criticism all along has been that I didn't feel there was that one unquestionably qualified, central "football guy" around to give the whole operation a sense of direction and competence.

They do now. Gibbs is that man ... and as long as HE is comfortable with the personnel arrangement, I'm not going to question him, or it. I'm going to continue to HOPE that at some point, if someone like Polian or Modrak or even some name I've never heard of but Gibbs has comes along, that we'll hire him to add to the mix. But for now, I'm putting my trust in Joe Gibbs to not only know if he DOES need someone else at some point, but also be strong enough in the organization to then make it happen.
