Anyone else feel good for Stephen Davis.

You know when Spurrier took over Stephen Davis never complained and altered his game to fit the new system. With the exception of the Westbrook incident, he was a class act with the our organization. Although he was hurt alot, he played hard on everydown, and was our best player for several years. I always felt he was best combination of power and speed to be found in the nfl. We let him go, and credit him for deciding on the right team. Congrats Stephen Davis, and thanks for all the good years your gave to DC.

i was kind of torn in this game...being a lifelong skins fan, naturally i wanted to see SD win this game, but im also from central NY(20 miles east of syracuse) where mcnabb played college ball. and for that reason alone, i wanted to see mcnabb actually win a superbowl.

So, bleeding as much burgandy and gold as i do, seeing what could have been with SD in DC, my love for the skins(and ex-skins) trumps any love for Syracuse football. Imagine how i felt when Art Monk was in his prime.:40oz:

Davis is a class act and deserves this run. He has my support all the way. I only wish he could have done it wearing the burgundy and gold. The Skins lost alot the day Stephen left and he will always be welcome here. It is going to be great to see him in the Super Bowl.

I fully support Davis. He's a really good player, and would have been a nice keeper, particularly since he's the kind of back that would work really nicely with Gibbs.

That said, the decision to release him was understandable, since the direction of the offence at that time was in need of his type of play (or so we thought).

Free agency has introduced the turnstyle rosters, so I tend not to root for players when they no longer wear the B&G. However, my respect for SD has enabled me to root for him. Of course, I'm not sure how much of this "rooting" was influenced by my desire not to see the Eagle in the SB.

What?

He never complained?

Do you want me to go look up some articles which have quotes of him complaining? Because he complained.

Do I feel good for him? Sure. He's a pretty good RB, and is a good bulldozer.

Foster IS, however, a better RB than Stephen Davis. If I were the Carolina coaches, next season I'd seriously consider opening up the running back position for a battle.

The Panthers know that Davis can't make it through a full season healthy, Foster very well could take that starting job next year.

I'm STILL p!ssed that Spurrier never knew Davis' value in the running game and didn't make enough of an attempt to include him as a main weapon in his offense.

As for Foster's run, he showed great balance but was more poor tackling on the part of the Eagles than anything else. Stephen Jackson is a guy who, with a little NFL experience, will be able to do the same kind of things. Not saying we draft him, just making comparisons.

How can you not feel good for him? The only thing that has me feeling a little bad is that DeShaun Foster is a year or so away from taking his job. That one yard run at the goal line was the best play of Championship Sunday.

I do have to say, though, I'll probably be leaning a little more toward the Patriots, though. I find it really hard to root for a team that cut into the Redskins fanbase a bit.

I couldn't care less about Davis. He had his chance to show Spurrier something and he never did. He fell down from a good gust of wind, fumbled the ball at the worst posible times and complained loudly about his PT. In the end, he simply was not worth the 5 mill he would have cost us to keep him.

Get this through your heads folks. He's the enemy now and there is nothing he would like more than to screw over the Redskins. Well screw him. :hammer:

BTW. He's not even the best back on the Panthers team. They scored more points when Foster started this year than when Davis did. And anyone who thinks Davis would have scored on that TD run needs to put down the crack pipe. When was the last time Davis had a run like that? Never?

Davis NEVER complained?????

Is this a fantasy thread?

I'll never feel good for Davis, I'll never root for him, Foster is better anyway.

With all the hype about Davis rushing for 2000 yards and so on, how much did he end the season with???? 1400.

And to top that off, he got beat up by a fairy.

I hope Davis fumbles away the superbowl and he is shown on those NFL films for years and years as the reason the Panthers lost to the Pats.

I won't root against Davis. He paid his dues to be a starter in this league.

But the fact remains that he was NOT worth what he was getting paid in DC and he wouldn't take a salary like the one he's getting in Carolina.

He is a hurt player these days who can be healthy for about 8-10 games, then after that its a crap shoot. In my head (not heart), Foster has a 70% chance of being the starter there in 04 and a 90% chance in 05. Davis' body can't take the beating anymore and Gibbs would rather have the cap room than an player on IR who is taking up space.

Lets be clear here...Davis at 3mil a year is worth it. Davis at whatever he would of made in DC for the 04 season is NOT worth it.

Davis complained at not getting much playing time under SOS. However, I don't remember him ever complaining about anything prior to that. Dude was/is a class act and even though the Patsies are going to open up a can of whip arse on the Panthros, I'll still be pulling for "Big Country" to do well.

 48
