inmate running the asylum
Should the Skins give up their 5th round pick for Corey Dillon, which is the lowest round pick we have? Three Teams Eyeing Dillon -- from FFMastermind.com ESPN's Len Pasquarelli reports at least three teams have demonstrated some degree of interest in RB Corey Dillon, but Cincinnati Bengals officials still shouldn't count on getting anything more than a lower middle-round draft pick (if that), should they decide to trade their disgruntled tailback. -- Lions Eyeing Keyshawn -- from FFMastermind.com ESPN's Len Pasquarelli reports the Detroit Lions are expected to make a play for WR Keyshawn Johnson once he is officially released by the Bucs. The erstwhile receiver said last week that he preferred to play for Dallas, New England or Baltimore. -- Staley to Draw a Lot of Interest -- from FFMastermind.com ESPN's Len Pasquarelli reports Philadelphia Eagles RB Duce Staley, according to several general managers, is going to be a very popular guy in the unrestricted free agent pool this spring. redman
Assuming he's healthy (he missed games from injury for the first time in his career this year) a 5th rounder's not a bad price. But that also assumes that Gibbs is confident he can work with him, and I've already voiced skepticism about that.
atloldskin
I could handle a fifth round pick for Corey Dillon if Joe Gibbs wants him.
bulldog
Dillon quit on his team this year before even giving Lewis a chance to implement his program, I don't want him here. And I hope Gibbs feels the same way, for the same reason Let him go to Oakland or Denver where the management doesn't really care about what kind of attitude or baggage players have. jimster
Wouldn't hurt to talk to him (Joe Gibbs that is) to see what he's about. That would be a huge concern for us taken care of. - I can see Keyshawn in Baltimore

bulldog
and why not see if we can grab a guy like Terrell Davis or Mike Anderson with that pick? we have to try and change our outlook as we get a more stable management team in place. we don't have to swing for the fences at every turn anymore we can take this thing with some patience and let a multitude of good moves make us better over a couple of seasons. I agree. I love the prospect of landing Mike Anderson of the Broncos on this team. Th guy is an ex-navy guy and has a hard work attitude which is sorely needed on this team. Also...Dillion is a 30 year old back that has taken alot of hits. He's on the down side of his career plus he brings a bad attitude. I say we pass on him and look to take Chris Perry in the second round and pick up MIke Anderson and get rid of Trung and Betts.
OrangeSkin
Dillon for a fifth-rounder would be a steal. We could get at least two solid years out of him. He is still an outstanding RB and would look even better in a Gibbs-style offense.

Not only would a change of scenery be the best thing for him, but we know that this guy can run and he'd be a good stopgap so we wouldnt have to worry about the RB position this year and be able to have the luxury to address it in a year or two. SlinginSammy HOF '63
Is it just me or would Keyshawn make a perfect Cowboy? He just seems to fit that mold.

IronMike
(Living in the Past) Dillon could be Gerald Riggs, with all the good and bad that that implies. Can we get him for a 5th round draft choice; and what is the cap hit? If the draft choice is unreasonable, or the cap hit unreasonable, draft a kid out of college. The Consigliere
I'm not really worried about Dillons behavior w/the team this past year, I think it was more a case of him choosing the absolute worst time possible in his career to get fed up w/being a Bengal. Think, any year between 1992 and 2003 other than 2003 would have been just fine, but he went w/2003. Suffice it to say, bad timing. My concern is w/the character issues he had in college and pre-college when there were rumors that he was criminally minded and gang affiliated. That's a concern. Him getting sick of a Bengal? Who among us wouldn't be sick of being a Bengal after playing for sh!tcinatti for six years going into '03 and seeing the best player, Takeo Spikes depart last year, w/nary a peep out of the front office? Anyway if he can be had for a fourth or a fifth, I'd certainly pull the trigger. What day 2 picks do we actually own? I thought we only had one day 2 pick, pending possible trades. He's a nice stop gap, that could allow us to address Corner, DE, DT, potentially WR2, TE and safety and wait out addressing RB via the draft until say, 2006. Jay Master Jay
Corey Dillion for a 5th rounder would be a steal if we could pull it off. He would fill a hole and our offense would have a weapon in the backfield.
TODD
Per-ry, Per-ry, Per-ry Costs us less, and is a young guy. Grab Chris Perry in the 2nd round.
inmate running the asylum
There would be no cap hit if we traded a 5th round pick for Corey Dillon. He has two years remaining on his contract, between $ 2.5-3.0 million per season, which is reasonable for a starting back that will gain 1300 yards or more. Did you see the Rose Bowl? No thanks. We dont need another Kenny Watson clone here. We have more pressing needs than drafting a so-so RB.

The problems is the cap hit Cincinnati would take, that is why many feel the Bengals will not be able to trade him, it would be more cap friendly to release him.:deal:
