Tom [Giants fan]
Update on an NFC East rival for you guys: The Giants will probably be naming Dick Jauron as their assistant head coach tomorrow. I love what Coughlin is doing with the coaching staff. Fassel had to not only be the head coach, but he also had to run the whole offense which I think was a bit too strenuous for him. Jauron will be focusing on the defense with T. Lewis. Coughlin and whoever he hires as offensive coordinator will concnetrate on the offense. Plus, they are still heavily pursuing the coach from Denver. I really like the way Coughlin is setting up the staff. :applause: The NFC East is not only going to have some of the best NFL Head Coaches, but they are going to have the best collection of assistants as well. Dan T.
Coughlin's going to be a great hire, and it looks like he's assembling a solid staff. Jeez the NFC East is going to be tough next season. Just like in the old days!
Drakkhim
I'm all about competition, but with all of these great coaches in the division, it's going to be cutthroat football up until week 17. I can't wait!
UtahSkinsFanatic
Alex Gibbs is the coach from Denver. I would be very concerned with his hiring. If anyone remembers his O-Lines in Denver have been accused of using dirty tactics. He seems to push the lines between clean tactics and dirty tactics. Chrisbob74
Agree about the Alex Gibbs hire, that would be a class move for them, he has said he will only coach 3 more seasons and is looking for a new challenge...would be a good move for them, bad for us. Reaganaut
I can see that Giants fans are happier now. The question is whether this is because heads rolled or the replacements are really the right people to help the team. There are a lot of babies on the Giants and the fans are insufferable in busting players' gonads. I still can't fathom getting rid of a coach who took the team to the Superbowl. Tom [Giants fan]
Reaganaut, It is defnitely the right hire. Those who have a problem with Coughlin don't belong here to begin with. That was part of the problem with Fassel. The players were happy because he went easy on them and it showed on the field. The Giants are going to be a much tougher team than the past few years with Fassel. They are going to hit teams and those teams will know who they played. And I can't wait. And Giant fans are happy because heads rolled and it is the right hire. :applause:
JoeSkins
So the G-men are going straight up Jacksonville now...maybe they cut Kerry and sign Brunell?

Just because Tom and Blazers are great posters and assets to the board doesn't mean we can't despise the teams they root for. :gaintsuck :eaglesuck

As long as it's sports-related and not personal, it's a lot of fun discussing the NFC East, Redskins and football. I know, for my part, I'd enjoy watching an Eagles-Redskins game with most of the people on this board. The back and forth banter would be a riot. DaSkinzBaby
It seems to me that many people can't see the forrest for the tree's so to speak. Tom Coughlin went to the AFC Championship game 2 times and LOST. What makes everyone here think that ANY AFC Coach can be successful in the NFC East? Look at when the Skins hired Schottenhiemer, another choke artist for the AFC. Sorry I am not sold on this hire and think the Giants are going to be a MAJOR DISAPPOINTMENT! Hey Tom it's still not to late come back to the light!!! The Gibbs Light!!
DaSkinzBaby
Also if memory serves me correctly the Redskins have won every regular season game played against the Jaguars coached by Coughlin so beating the Giants like the Jaguars will be a good thing... OUCH ARRINGTON HITZ HARD!!!
5012
Hey Tom, This is a great hire for our Giants. I have been really happy with the moves Coughlin is making with the coaching staff (assuming A. Gibbs and Jauron join the staff). We are going to need as much coaching power as possible in order to compete over the next 2-3 seasons.
Tom [Giants fan]
arringtonhitz, Coughlin was with the Giants as an assistant so he is familiar with the NFC East. It isn't like he has spent his whole career in the AFC. 5012, Yeah, Coughlin is lining up an impressive staff assuming like you said that those two join the Giants. Blazers, I agree with you. All of us hating each others teams is what makes this great. And like you said, it is nothing personal. I don't hate you but I do hate your team. Now, what are the odds we can get a Eagles vs. Giants vs. Redskins vs. Cowboys game all at the same time? All four teams beating the crap out of one another on the same field at the same time. I'm sure you'll agree we have a larger percentage of a$$e$ than most teams. Unfortunately, it comes with the territory of rooting for the GD Eagles.
