I like but don't love our backs. I think some of us overrate them a bit. Their YPC were pretty low last year. I know a lot of that was due to OL and scheme/playcalling issues, but still.

Defenses could also sell out completely to stop the run, because 1- they knew it was coming (top 5 run attempts) and 2- we were both bottom 3rd in passing and passing yards per attempt, so even if we weren't running, we certainly weren't going deep.

Boy I don't know why anyone would take this bait.  I believe in that reporting 0%...

It’s not particularly alluring bait, is why. It’s believable and his price tag is probably less than $3M. It could be Josina doing a favor for his agent, but it’s not like the report is about Cook or something. Hunt is nothing special at this point (and neither are our RBs, so it’s not really that controversial of a rumor).

I'm amazed we got what we did out of the run game last year considering opposing D's could conceptually build low rent hosing in our backfield as their gameplan week in and week out. They knew as much as we did that the goal was to run the ball 40 times

The YPA on rushes will naturally increase when we have a passing game worth a spit. The passing game we had last year was worth negative value.

When you look at a lot of our stats from last year, it's amazing that our record was as good as it was.

I got 1000 other positions that need love b4 RB.

Hunt would be a misguided waste.

It’s not really that dramatic. It would be a very low cost vet move, if it actually was true. It’s a so what/ok fair enough move for me.

Who's out if Hunt is in? Otherwise that's a pretty crowded RB group.

I mean it either means Rodriguez has no shot at the roster or maybe we're moving Gibson to WR?  We kind of lack quality depth there

This profound disrespect to Dax Milne is absolutely unconscionable.

We were apparently shopping Gibson before the draft.

I find it somewhat odd nobody has signed him to something.  It's either a really bizarre "stars aligning the wrong way for him" thing or there's something which we don't know about.

Character issues/difficulties would be my guess.

PFF, not perfect but they self proclaim their O line scores translate the best among the positions they rank.

https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-2023-free-agent-rankings-free-agency

46. OG DALTON RISNER

Contract projection: Available in PFF's free agency rankings

Risner offered consistency along a Broncos offensive line that had anything but at every other position, logging almost 1,000 snaps before unfortunately missing the season finale with an elbow injury. Before going down, Risner earned his second consecutive pass-blocking grade above 70.0, with a 65.7 pass-blocking grade on true pass sets that ranked 22nd among guards.

It’s a great time for Risner to hit free agency, with a short list of quality interior offensive linemen available. Risner is right at the top of that list.

118. OT ANDREW WYLIE

*Signed with Commanders

Contract projection: Available in PFF's free agency rankings

174. OG NICK GATES

Contract projection: Available in PFF's free agency rankings

*Signed with Commanders

Had an altercation with Brett Rypien but read that's an abberation for him.

Reading about him, he's doesn't miss games.  Incredibly durable.

His weakness is the run game -- just pedestrian on that front.  He's niche is pass protection.

https://www.si.com/nfl/broncos/news/dalton-risner-rumor-serious-interest

After all, he's been a model citizen off the field ever since he was drafted in the second round back in 2019. Despite his failure to really become a top-caliber NFL guard, his flexibility and experience playing tackle in college would ostensibly be valuable to a host of needy teams.

A post on another thread almost make me wonder if he is waiting until July 21 to hear something. Probably doubtful but it's nice to think about

Would it be allowed for the Harris Group to have discussions now with team leaders on a game plan. I mean like on a couple player moves for right after the purchase is official?

Officially no.  I'd have to guess there have been backchannels (for example, they could not trade future picks during this past draft as an example).
