Going Commando
Mark Tyler is wrong about Taylor having room to step into the throw that he back footed and got picked. The center got blocked into him and that is clearly the reason he rushed the throw and didn't step into it. Pete Hailey's tweet about the play is interesting because it shows Taylor doesn't necessarily have a ton of confidence in these play designs via a vis what the coverage is showing him. But I think it's worth noting that his read wasn't necessarily bad. Logan Thomas was open and it's usually a good thing to press the deeper level when you've got more than one open. But that throwing window disappeared because the center gave up too much penetration and if he moves to avoid the pressure and reset he loses the window that way too. Right now we want to go vertical in our offense but just can't get these plays blocked. We can't get anywhere without fixing the interior OL.
