I can't say either is My Favorite Martin. :(

I am personally deferential to Steve Martin.  I don’t know if he could play C or OG, but he is a comic genius and a a good banjo player.  Dirty Rotten Scoundrels is a great movie from the 80’s, if you haven’t seen it, highly recommend.

I also dated a girl with a last name Martin once. But she was a Bills fan so it was never going to work…. :P

My point was, why would the Washington front office want to wait so long to do something about their lack of quality depth at center and guard?

Procrastinating until after the week 14 games are done, essentially risks Washington having to compete with another team whose center or guard might have got injured today.

Hopefully no one was injured today, but frankly Rivera & Co.'s procrastination on proactively addressing their O-Line deficiencies give me the feeling they don't think they'll make the playoffs.  Maybe they figure they don't need to fix things, and they'll come up with a "Bostic" type of solution for their O-Line problems.

If I was in one of Rivera's press-conferences, that's the type of question I'd press him on.

it's possible that Cosmi and Turner will both be ready next week and then we won't have a situation at guard

Gonna guess that  Cosmi, Turner are both are ready for the game this week.  Because we replaced Tyler Larsen on our roster with Carsen Wentz.

While we could go with Martin at center and Schweitzer at guard, that would necessitate a double shift at the line if Martin went down

Rivera announced Schweitzer is the starting center. Cosmi practiced in full and Turner was a limited participant. I think both guys are active.

Schweitzer has graded as a terrible pass blocker when he's started at center but a good run blocker. They should go with Cosmi at guard and the run the crap out of the ball. BRob needs 20+ carries this game and more touches in the passing game. Jihad Ward is dealing with a concussion and may miss the game and Leonard Williams is dealing with a lingering neck injury.

Would be cool if Cosmi and Paul can lock down our G position for the next 5+ years. Definitely need to address C though as you can't bank on Roullier after two straight seasons ended early by injury. And while Leno and Lucas are solid starting Ts, we need an infusion of youth at that position.

Do other teams try to block elite pass rushers with a tight end, one on one like we sometimes do? I find it preposterous. I don't want to see anyone trying to block Myles Garrett one on one. I'd like to think that our best blocking TE  Bates would be put on that side and help Leno double team MG the entire game. I doubt it happens though. I'm sick of seeing guys like Bosa, Parsons, Thibodeaux, etc completely wreck us. Not expecting to completely shut them down but it seems like preparations aren't even made for this problem. Smh.

I don't recall us trying to block elite Edge guys one on one with TEs. One on one with Leno yes, and he has not done well in those spots.

who do you want at QB?

Howell. I understand your point. But the difference is there is no realistic upgrade option out there at QB. We can find quality Gs in FA or in the draft.

Also my plan is to try to put as much talent around Howell as possible so we can know for sure if he's the guy or not. I'd rather have either a more experienced G or one with more pedigree(i.e. higher draft pick if we go in that direction).

We absolutely need a RT at minimum.

Cosmi hasn't proven that he can stay on the field at any position, so can't count on him.

Roullier is great when healthy, but it's been two years. Larson is decent.

So, we really have nothing at RT and RG and maybe even C. LG is the easiest to swap in, so I think Paul is the least of our worries and I'm not against upgrading the spot, but priorities.

Is Roullier toast? Or is there legitimate hope that he returns and can return to form? I know there's obvious injury history there, though.

Regardless, I think shoring up the Center position (either moving forward with a solid option returning from injury, signing a vet in FA and/or drafting a kid that can hold things down) may be the biggest offseason need other than QB and OG, IMO.

Back to back season ending injuries isn't a good sign. His cap # is high too, so he's a good cut candidate unless he looks 100% good to go in the off season.

Unless he wants to re work his contract I doubt they keep him. Very good center when healthy but has missed way too much time the last two seasons
