Pierce and Gray were two of my favs.  I liked Phillips too as a mid rounder type.

Zim, Howell may be starting before this season over with.  A lot of unknowns.

I wasn't high on any of those five.  Of the non first rounders, I was highest on Skyy Moore and John Metchie (SteveMcQueen sold me on Metchie).

I was high on Pickens talent. But low on him overall due to character concerns. 

 

I liked Danny Gray.

Week 1 of college and games tonight, tomorrow night, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.   In terms of tonight, two games I am excited for Pitt v. WVU and Purdue v. Penn St.

 

This week includes Utah v. Florida, Ohio St. v. Notre Dame, LSU v. FSU, and Oregon v. Georgia.  Should be a good weekend.

Somewhat locally Virginia Tech gets a rematch for its 2018 defeat and plays Old Dominion Friday night.   On Saturday, Appalachian St host UNC in a battle of North Carolina teams (UNC is only a three point favorite) and in another battle of North Carolina teams, NC State plays East Carolina.

In the Penn St. v. Purdue game, I thought Joey Porter Jr. looked pretty good last night.  He definitely raised his stock in my mind.  It seemed like Purdue was pretty stupid for targeting him as much as they did.  On Purdue side I was impressed by their TE Durham and I could see the Iowa transfer Charlie Jones being a good slot receiver in the NFL.

 

In the WVU v. Pitt game, I thought the WVU DT Dante Stills looked good.   I was also was intrigued WVU's WR Bryce Ford Wheaton, his physical characteristics of size and speed look like a day 1, but he had a couple big drops.  Had a drop on a deep ball in the first quarter that was a somewhat difficult catch.  And he the drop in the fourth quarter that probably cost WVU the game on the hitch route with 2.5 minutes left in the game and the game tied  when the ball went through his hands and the Pitt defender picked off the deflection.  That was a fairly easy catch that he just didn't watch into his hands.

 

I wasn't that impressed by Kedon Slovis, though I don't think he was bad.

Slovis was and continues to be a poor prospect.

Sean Taylor's little brother makes his 2022 Junior year debut today for Rice, against USC, who are favored by 32.5 points.

Maybe his signature ball-hawking skills can cut into that offense's advantage, and grab some INT's and maybe a Pick 6.

He was honorable mention all Conference USA as a sophomore.  Looks like he is developing into a good player.   Probably be a late round guy in the 2024 draft.

Watching Alabama.  Granted just one quarter in one game but Burton to my eyes can seperate really well. 

 

Will Anderson, like Chase, I think ends up the #2 pick in the 2023 draft, what a freak.

I think we're drafting a CB in the 1st round and there seems to be some good options.

Maybe.  It wouldn't fit the Rivera-Hurney pattern to take a CB high.  But I wouldn't hate it.

Richardson looks good. If were drafting to 8-12 QB should be the play. Itll mean that Wentz didnt work out.

Depends on the season. If were in the playoffs it means Wentz played well. If we dont Ron and Co will need a splash to keep the heat off.

Michael Hall #51 on Ohio State's DL has been really impactful.  Definitely piqued my interest.

 

Watched the Georgia game earlier today and was very impressed with #29 SS Christopher Smith.  BTW, that true Freshman safety Malaki Starks... wow.  He looks special.

Also wanted to say that Ohio State right tackle is a mammoth.  He's the Evan Neal/Daniel Faalele of this year's class where he'll probably be battling his weight during his career, but has a size/speed combo that is scary.  He is mean too.  He's the kind of tackle that New England typically drafts.

How can Florida have a 1st round QB and be unranked?    

 

In regards to Rivera/Hurney not drafting CB's high...is it really a philosophy?   That would be odd.   CB is a premium position.

I didn't watch the Ohio State-Notre Dame game but look forward to watching Mayer this season.  I've been admiring his play for 2 years now, he's a beast.
