China
Kremlin Blames U.S. for Attempted Drone Strike on Putin Residence The United States was behind Ukraine's decision to strike President Vladimir Putin’s residence in the Kremlin with drones, his spokesman said Thursday. Russia’s presidential press service said two Ukrainian drones had attempted to strike Putin’s residence in the night between Tuesday and Wednesday. The Kremlin called the incident a “terrorist act” and vowed to retaliate as it sees fit. On Thursday, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters that Moscow believes “decisions on such terrorist attacks are made not in Kyiv, but in Washington.” “We know that often it isn’t even Kyiv that determines the targets, but Washington,” Peskov said during a daily briefing. China
Wagner chief surrounded by dead bodies screams at Putin: ‘Where is the f****** ammo!?’ Vladimir Putin's top military brass came under fire in an extraordinary rant from the leader of the Wagner Group as he complained about a lack of military supplies. Yevgeny Prigozhin, once seen as one of the dictator's closest allies, is increasingly turning against Putin and launched an expletive-leaden tirade against the handling of the invasion of Ukraine. Prigozhin particularly targeted Russia's top two military officials - Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and General Valery Gerasimov - in the video released on his press service's Telegram yesterday. He commanded the cameraman to film the collected dead bodies of seemingly dozens of Wagner troops, before yelling: "We have a 70 percent ammo shortage! Shoigu! Gerasimov! Where the f*** is the ammo?" Referring to the dead soldiers, he then added: "F***! They are somebody’s f****** fathers, and somebody’s sons! And those scum who are not giving us munitions! B***! Will be in hell! "Their organs f****** eaten! We are short on munitions! 70 percent! Shoigu! Gerasimov! Where are the f****** munitions!" He accused Putin's top men of "hanging out in expensive clubs" while claiming the death toll among his troops would have been five times lower had they been supplied with enough ammunition. On Saturday, Prigozhin said his troops in Bakhmut would either have to "withdraw or die" as a result of the massive ammunition deficit. He later added that his organization had lost more than 100 people in a single day during an assault there. Air Force commander Mykola Oleshchuk said in a Telegram post that the Kinzhal-type ballistic missile had been intercepted in an overnight attack on the Ukrainian capital earlier in the week. It was also the first time Ukraine is known to have used the Patriot defense systems. “Yes, we shot down the ‘unique’ Kinzhal,” Oleshchuk wrote. “It happened during the night-time attack on May 4 in the skies of the Kyiv region.” Oleshchuk said the Kh-47 missile was launched by a MiG-31K aircraft from Russian territory and was shot down with a Patriot missile. The Kinzhal is one of the latest and most advanced Russian weapons. The Russian military says the air-launched ballistic missile has a range of up to 2,000 kilometers (about 1,250 miles) and flies at 10 times the speed of sound, making it hard to intercept. Gurgeh
It's been noticeable that in the most recent wave of Russian missile and drone attacks nothing seems to have got through the defences around Khiv. Meanwhile Ukraine has imposed a two day curfew in Kherson. In the context of reports of them having made progress across the river, this could be significant, although a major assault across such a wide river would be extremely risky. ‘This will be different’: Kherson’s ruined villages come to life with counteroffensive preparation | Ukraine | The Guardian The evidence that more war is coming to Ukraine – and soon – is supplied by the roads, full of military traffic. Troop transports and newly supplied vehicles from western allies are moving, apparently confirming the statements of senior officials that the counteroffensive will come imminently and that they are “almost ready”. ...Along the southern Dnipro river around Kherson, Ukrainian artillery batteries have stepped up targeting of Russian positions on the far side of the river, while in a number of locations Russian military correspondents and bloggers say they have seen reconnaissance-in-force assaults designed to probe for weak spots. ...Oleksandra Viernenko, aged 76, is aware of what any counteroffensive is likely to involve for many Ukrainians still under occupation. Examining her ruined flat in a village near the town of Snihurivka, abandoned by Russian forces in the last offensive, Oleksandra is moved to tears. “At my age this is a hard thing. I still don’t know how I am going to live, but every day I pray to God, and I pray for liberation.”
Larry
Sounding like the Ukes are getting resupplied, and the Rooskies aren't. Although, still. There's gonna have to be a major shift in power, for the Ukes to go from "not getting rolled over" to "able to actually make major advances".

LD0506
The thing is the software upgrades the Ukes have been playing with to cut the reaction time and shorten the decision loop. You don't have the horizon there that you did with Scuds in the desert. They come in hot straight atcha and you need to get a solution with very little crossrange plot. This is improving our stuff which was already light years beyond the orcs.

Gurgeh
Former head of Roscosmos now thinks NASA did not land on the Moon During his four-year tenure at Roscosmos, Rogozin wrote, he asked his leadership team to look into whether NASA had actually landed a dozen astronauts on the Moon in the late 1960s and early 1970s. After all, Rogozin reasoned, "It was not clear to me how the United States, at that level of technological development of the '60s of the last century, did what they still cannot do now?" In response to these queries, Rogozin wrote, he received angry responses from academicians and "fans" of NASA at Roscosmos who did not want to undermine cooperation with the US space agency on the International Space Station. As evidence for the landing, Rogozin claims he only received a copy of a book by cosmonaut Alexei Leonov. Accordingly, at the end of this "investigation," Rogozin said he does not believe Americans landed on the Moon but rather that they had succeeded in infiltrating the "establishment" of the Russian space program. ...[in fact] the Russians observed the lunar landing in real time from the ground—and even had a spacecraft in orbit around the Moon. The Luna 15 spacecraft was in orbit around the Moon at the time Apollo 11 arrived there and when Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin went down to the surface. There were even some backchannel discussions between NASA and the Soviet space program to ensure that the two spacecraft did not interfere with communications between the Moon and Earth. In short, the Soviets were watching the American Moon landing closely and knew fully well what NASA had accomplished. https://arstechnica.com/science/2023/05/former-head-of-roscosmos-now-thinks-nasa-did-not-land-on-the-moon/

If we faked it, the Russians would have known and made sure the whole world knew.
